Hi!

I'm just looking for a little more information on this model before I go ahead and splurge.. I'm normally a Gibson girl, this will be my first Fender.

http://www.jacksonsrareguitars.com/Fend ... 17937.html

The serial is apparently 26026109 but I cant seem to match that to anything, and the guitar dater project tells me it's an invalid serial.

Now, I've heard that Teles with humbuckers are called Telecaster Customs, this guy has it listed as a standard humbucker.. I've been through all the telecaster pages here and I can't find anything in the current catalogue that looks anything like it.. so I'm guessing its an older model..

Can you tell me anything about it? Where it might have been made? what it would have retailed for in the US? a bigger picture even? Would you recommend the purchase?

Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me :)

T.

I browsed some of his other stuff (Fender and Gibson since those are the ones I know a little about) and he's either not posting complete serial numbers or, based on the posted serial numbers, he bought a bunch of fakes. Some of the Gibson serial numbers make no sense at all either. Another answer could be that it's made up from parts or has had the neck replaced. Lastly, it might be a Fender Japan model, particularly given the location, but I would assume that Fender Japan would conform to the US serial number standards. If you're really interested ask for more info on the serial number and history and see what they say. You might even tell them that the serial number doesn't match anything that Fender has. After thinking about it it's also possible that the "26" start is really "Z6" which would make it a 2006 model, possibly a custom run.

G'day fellow sydneysider :)

I did a bit more looking around and found the model and managed to find it (with some help from a couple of other fender forums)

It's a Fender American Telecaster HH (Updated model with S1 Switching)

http://www.instrumentpro.com/P-FEN0118760.html

I agree with you that JRG (Jackson's) is shifty, I'll never buy anything vintage from there after the stories I've been told (he replaces pickups and whatnot) but I figured with a brand new guitar I'd be alright.. I would have been taking a friend who is a total fender fanatic to check it all out and have a good play before I put money down... but unfortunately they sold the guitar two days go (fate eh?) There's another on eBay, but it's pewter and I'm not such a huge fan.. still very much considering it though

If I could find a US store (like musician pro, linked above) who'd ship here I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Thanks for all your help! :)

Ooooh, how ironic, the page confirming my last post has a red tele with humbuckers & a black pickguard... but not the American standard HH, what model is it?

Thanks again!
