Hi guys,

I would just like to say hello and introduce myself as I have just joined your 'Fender' community yesterday. I have spent hours reading through all the fantastic info here... you guys are so knowledgable, its been great reading through the posts.

I have always been a Gibson sort of guy and have owned my prized 60's 335 for the past 30 years and I suppose I should have really tried a tele in earnest before now but my 335 did all I needed so never really chased it up. I had hoped to own a 'real' Telecaster for its authentic and unique 'Country' sound, just never got round to it up until now.

Until today, I have been surprizingly 'Fender free' but I have finally taken the plunge (the wife is also amazed as I havent entertained for 20 years so couldnt really justify yet another guitar) but a shop here in the UK was doing an offer on a Mexico candy red standard so I have given myself an Xmas treat and purchased it. It was supposed to have a slight scuff on the end of the headstock hence the offer but it arrived today and I cant see a mark on it anywhere. They included a picture of the scuff but I certainly cant see it on the instrument that was delivered to me today..... it seems absolutely perfect.

Having been playing it most of today .. all I can say is I should have got one of these many, many years ago.... the sound and feel of it are superb and I just cant put it down. Just need to learn some of these nice country rifts that are going around now.

Hope I havent bored you too much.... im just excited, Hehe, a new lease of life from a proud new Fender owner

Now off to readome more of the forums... fingers are starting to sting :))

Take care guys
Dave

Welcome to the forums! I too went a long while playing mostly Gibson and Gibson-type guitars and the first time I ever played a Tele, I left the store with it. And I had gone to the store planning to buy something totally different. I wish you many years of enjoyment with your new Tele and if you have any questions or concerns, there are a number of very knowledgable; helpful people here.

Welcome aboard!

Learn some of those Paisley licks from his album, "Play".

I wish more pickers would do mostly instrumental albums like that. I'd love to hear something like that by Vince Gill, Johnny Hiland, etc.

Welcome. I couldn't agree with you more about the seasoned, helpful veterans around here. You will learn a lot hanging around the Fender forums.

Congrats on the new guitar.

Hi Dave, welcome to the world of Fender.Although I've been playing a Strat since 1974 I too put off buying a Tele for years until my wife gave me one for Christmas 3 years ago. Teles are amazing guitars-every guitar player should own at least one.

Hi Folks,

Hmm... last post seems to have gone astray.

Would just like to say thanks for all the nice friendly welcomes, its good to feel part of the community.

Fingers still stinging as I havent been able to put it down for the past two days.... but I'm loving every minute of it... its such fun to play, should have done this years ago. To be fair, I havent been playing for the past 20 years so its going to take a little time to get back into the swing of things and get the old fingers moving as they should again.

Lol, need a few more beers to ease the stinging, the rest will come in time :)

Anyway folks, just thought I would say thanks for making me feel at home.

All the Best for Xmas, and have a good 2011

Take care
Dave

Dave,

Welcome from me too. I just picked up my first Tele last week. A Classic Player Baja in Dessert Sand color. It certainly has a unique tone and I love the neck. It has the soft V style. I have already gotten lots of good info regarding tuning and intonation from the experts on the forum.

Enjoy the new "baby". :D

I was a Gibbo man myself but I think a Tele is the best looking guitar I have owned, and I get a real growl playing amped up Punk. Gives you the best rhythm sound if you know what to do!
