Hey guys, I just bought an American Special Tele, and it sounds awesome. But the colour on it seems a little different. I got it in Olympic White but it kinda has an off-white hue to it, and on all the pictures I've seen of them they look white as snow. Is it because just because of my lighting or is Olympic White supposed to be a little off white. Here's two photos, one without flash and one with flash, tell me what you think. (also this isn't a huge deal, I'm just curious I still love this guitar to death)

Looks just like mine mate, yeah it's meant to be a bit creamier then just plain white. Plain white is called "Arctic White" in the catalog.

Heres mine

Heres the colour charts representations

Hope that puts your at rest that yes, that is Olympic white that you have.

Thanks for clearing that up. The way I said that seems like I didn't really appreciate the colour which in fact I find it quite beautiful, just thought it seemed odd. I hope you all like yours! the sound is killer on mine through the DeVille 410.

More people should post the photo's of theirs if they have them! I'll add a photo when I get the new pickguard I ordered, it's the pearl black from warmoth, should be here in a couple of days.

Very nice Tele! I bet that is going to look killer with the black pearloid pickguard. Can't wait to see the new photo once it's on there.

Oops, almost missed this thread.

Here's a pic of my Olympic White American Special. I swapped the black guard for a mint green and like the look.

Olympic White is supposed to be off white. It's creamier looking than Arctic White and less yellow than Vintage White. There are variations, though. Here's a pic of my three Olympic White Fenders.

The Japanese made '65 Mustang Reissue is the purest white, the MIM Jimmie Vaughan Strat is the creamiest and the American Special is right in the middle.

LOVE IT. Man that looks great.

Thanks, Nevin. Figured I'd go for a classic early 60s Tele look and Oly White and mint green gave me exactly what I wanted.

Snowy72, whilst the jamanons olympic white am special is fantastic and I can understand you wanting one yourself, didn't you just pick up a MIM CAR Tele with Maple Neck? GAS... its a terrible thing

Nice guitar!!

Thinking of picking one of those up myself - either in Olympic White or 3 Col Sunburst. I like the OW with the black pickguard but if I went 3CS then I think I'd swap for a Mint Green guard...

How's it sound?

Thanks, Snowy. I would send some blue sky your way if I could. Would you also be interested in taking some summer heat? Let's make it a package deal.

I wasn't sure how I would like Texas Special Tele pickups but they have won me over. They're higher output than standard Tele pickups and not as bright. Combine the Texas Specials with the American Special's Greasebucket tone circuit and there are some interesting tones to be had.

Impulse7,
The MIM Tele is actually candy cola red, or so I'm told  The Tele in my siggy pic is car, it's a CIJ Vintage 62 Custom, just to clear up any confusion

John,
What is this "summer heat" you speak of? My old bones need some of that, my last trip to the US was back in 05. It's time I got myself back over, just to see that big yellow ball in the sky!
