I got a 52 re-issue a few month back on eBay. I noticed that the body was pretty light. I have no reason to believe that this is anything but a '52. I thought that the body would be just a little heavier than it is. I am guessing it's not ash but alder?

Every 52 RI is made with ash. Ash's weight varies, sometimes it can be light, other times it can be heavy. I know my 52 RI is nice and light too, one of the reasons I love it, apart from the fact is sounds beastial ^^
