Anyone planning on getting one? When you do, post up your review (and pics too).

i really wish i could say i was thrilled with the new american standards. I'm just hoping for other innovation and spunk in a model, which the standard wouldn't have. but i have to say the tweaks on the new standard i hope get spread to the more creative guitars. (sorry i love my big block tele)

None of our local stores have them in stock yet, but the American Series Tele is my favorite, so if there at least as good them I'll probably get one. Same price, better looks, case, etc.

Has anyone actually got to see/play one of these yet?

I don't have a whole lot of experience w/ a lot of different gear. I owned a Tele that I had to sell a couple of years ago and I've desperately wanted to replace it ever since. I found out a couple of weeks ago the stars will align to allow me to buy a Telecaster in February. I went to the local shop to do preliminary research yesterday. I had the intention of getting something from the Classic Series but they had a brand new Tele in blizzard pearl w/ rosewood boards. I'd heard about the new American Standard and thought to myself if I got one, it'd be blizzard pearl w/ rosewood fret board. I liked it a lot more than the Classic '60's they had. I'm pretty much sold on it. The quality of components and workmanship seemed a cut above. Hopefully, it's still there in a couple of weeks. If not, I think they'll have to order another one.

Your thoughts/observations pretty much image mine, except my experience is with the Strat's. I've been teetering back and forth for the past couple of days (as described in a separate post) on whether or not to trade my Classic Players 60's in on a new American Standard.

Today I took my CP to the store to do side by side comparison and determine if the new Strat was worth the extra cash. It was. I really dig everything about the new AS. Looks, feel and sound. Cool case too.

My search for the rite Strat is over. The 08's really live up to their billing IMO.

Now I've got to start saving for that new Tele your talking about. :)
