just buy one pedal that does it for ya. saves $$ and space on the board.

An OCD in "HP" mode and a tube screamer have two completely different overdrive tones that can be used separately or in combination. What is it that don't you get, Rock Star?????? I don't use a million pedals, so I don't have a board space problem. My only other pedal is an analogue delay. If you only want to use one overdrive pedal, be my guest.

I only need one overdrive, where as I have multiple delays and reverbs, as well as a volume pedal, compression sustainer, wah, tremolo and an octave. My pedal board is not lacking for space either. If I need more space I'll go to my welding shop and make another, (sure it's heavier but I save $125). It's all about the style of music you play, some people don't need multiple overdrives. What is is that you don't get, Rock Star?????

Now that's what I call a heavy metal pedal board, Rock Star!!!
I'm down with your groove, Rock Star!!!!!
You ought to break out the torch and weld yourself a heavy metal guitar to match your heavy metal pedal board. Cheap tool..., Oh Yeah!!

If you weld yourself a heavy metal guitar, it'd have lots of sus-sus-sus-sus-sus-sustain that would go well with your multiple delays, reverbs, octaves, tremolos and your Digitech Whammy.

You could even build up your muscles while you strum your string, Rock Star, just try not to get too excited...

Well, I was mostly trying to stick up for waycool, but since you know me and my playing style so well I guess I should just stop typing, because my heavy metal is too much for you apparently. Oh wait? I don't like metal? Seriously, if you're going to start fights just leave. We don't need trolls here.

dont worry with it jamanon, they weed their own selves out sooner or later.
i was serious though. im not use to using OD pedals. for 20 plus yrs ive used
distortion pedals. my music changed course and so has my pedal selection.
i never heard of using two pedals like that, unless one was just used as a lead boost only. oh well maybe i should worry about my own setup/tone. wait a minute, i dont have any complaints about my tone on any of my rigs. maybe i need to go break something. :)

Go tune your guitar dude.
I didn't start anything.

As I have shown, there is at least one other person on this thread with the exact same setup as I have;
An OCD followed by a Tube Screamer.
Now you say that you are not used to using OD pedals.
If you have never heard of using two pedals like that, you have now heard that there are at least two guitarists in the world who think that this set-up makes sense.
The screamer is used as a boost, unless it is used separately for a completely different tone, as it doesn't sound anything like an OCD.
So why do you want to create an issue over the use of two different overdrives that have distinctively different sounds???

no issue was created. i asked a very simple question and you, im guessing, took it the wrong way and here we are.
nope not use to OD pedals. distortion pedals for yrs and yrs or my custom bradshaw system in my rack.dont use my rack any more, back to pedals again. i never liked OD pedals at all. they were very limited in my opinion, until recently (last 10 yrs) . i picked up a OD about 2 yrs ago and been trying out every one i can since. finally some quality out there.

Sorry about that, lost my cool over nothing really. I understand the OCD+ts combo too I know a guy who uses that and it works well for him. Having multiple tone options is always a good thing.

I've used all kinds of combinations of overdrive pedals for over 20 years. Heck, I've even used 2 808's together(which btw SRV did as well)...It's not uncommon to see players use compressors to juice up an od either, I do this sometimes as well( Brad Paisley is about the most recent artist to come to mind).

brad's gear is pretty simple but high quality stuff. he has great tone and is a monster player to boot.

Yup, ditto here....a Compressor+or- Boss overdrive/distortion +or- Ibanez Tube Screamer+or - Fender Blender into one, two or or three amps clean or dirty or in combination..I dig choices!

..and sometimes just straight Guitar to Twin for squeaky clean...

i've got a 52RI and play through a Blues Deluxe RI. my pedals are a Fulltone OCD, a Tubescreamer TS808 and Big Muff PI. (and a VOX Wah)

Love the Big Muff for its fuzz. And the OCD is fantastic. It keeps the strong low end of my clean channel while providing enough boost and crunch depending on using lp or hp. But the TS808 has me befuddled. It just sounds sooo thin. I lose all low end when using that pedal. Is it me?

Occasionally I do run the OCD and TS808 together and get a great raunchy white stripes sound. So that's fun. But I digress ...

I've had my eye on a Reverend Drivetrain II. Those, supposedly, are a close cousin to the tubescreamers but they add separate treble and bass controls. Anyone have any experience with them?

I love my tele and want to keep it sounding as thick as I can if using a pedal. I don't want to add low end, just not lose low end.

I'll throw my 2p worth into the mix, I use a Zoom G2 multi effects pedal, I'm not a heavy user of OD but I do like a bit now and again, the Zoom lets me have access to many effects and amp models. I only have a small amp and don't play too loud because of having close neighbours.

Depending on your amp (as others have said), you may only want a bit of boost from a boost pedal, they can give you a really sweet sound in the right measure.

Cheers
Steve

I've tried several. DOD, BOSS, the stock overdrive on the HRDX (Garbage). The Fulltone OCD has been the best. I also am saving up the coin to put an original TS after it that my local shop has hiding for me.

Fulltone OCD all day long! The TubeScreamers rock too. All depends on what final tones you are after. With just the OCD, I can cover from Zep to Slayer. Lots of Foo on the OCD.
