My favorite Tele OD tone comes from turning my Tele and Fender Princeton all the way up. I run the Princeton into a Marshall 4X12 for extra thump and tighter bass. I occasionally use a Fulltone OCD, but honestly, there are many inexpensive yet excellent OD pedals. Here's three suggestions: Boss DS-1, Boss Blues Driver; Ibanez TS-9.

My favorites for Tele are:

Ibanez Tubescreamers (any of 'em).

Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive.

Digitech Bad Monkey

(Digitech) Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive.

But that's just me. I love the Tubescreamer sound.

I use a BBE Crusher... You will just have to go and try some on for size 8)

The BBE Crusher was too noisy for me and I returned it, but dollar for dollar, you can't beat the BBE Green Screamer, which is a Tube Screamer clone.
I also use an OCD which is first in line, and provides more headroom and presence.
The Screamer occasionally combines very well with the OCD, and is great on its own.

Check out the Green Screamer demo shootout by the demo king, "Gearmandude" (who BTW, is NOT Jack Black):

I usehttp://www.voxamps.com/downloads/aud ... gBen_3.mp3 a Vox Big Ben orverdrive. It has valves in the pedal and gives a great alternative souns to my MArshall whsn used through the clean chanel. Gives great subtle breakup or thick creamy distortion. They're out of production now but well worth searching for a used one on ebay.

I just wasted 10 minutes of my life!!!!! I followed some of the links. Do people today even know how to play guitar? Everything I heard was completely laughable, tonewise(or lack of) and talentwise(serious lack of)......1234...1234...1234....1234....all downstrokes and what sounded like a ripped speaker with a blanket over it....Overdrive pedals are meant to do just that, OVERDRIVE an already cranked up tube amp. Turn the gain down, volume up and just slightly dial in a LITTLE extra gain.

Lots of great choices mentioned here and lots of great choices available.

But whichever you choose, you need to make certain it likes your amp and vice versa.

I'd say that is a tad more important...

I'm currently using the Zack Wylde OD pedal with my Strat with Texas Specials.

It's been pretty sweet so far, but it's really a matter of taste. My suggestion would be to take your guitar to a music store and try a bunch of them. Make sure that you use your amp or one like it.
