The telecaster used by Andy Summers had a small toggle switch between te two pots that apparently puts the two pickups in and out of phase then the three way switch is in the centre position.

Can anyone help me with a wiring diagram for this??

Help much appreciated.

I don't have a schematic but I could suggest instead of adding a mini-toggle trying a 4-way switch instead - that gives you 2 middle positions (one in series and one in parallel). These come with schematics.

That is what I was to suggest
Thanks John C

On the neck pickup, there is a little wire going from the bottom of the pickup's cover to the negative or ground wire eyelet of the pickup. Snip this wire from the eyelet and unsolder it from the cover. Now, where you unsoldered this little wire from the cover, solder a a wire to it long enough to reach the back of your volume pot and solder the other end of the wire to the volume pot.

We will be using a Double Pole, Double Throw (DPDT) mini-switch. I shall assign the following numbers to the six terminals of the switch:

Terminal 1: O O: Terminal 4

Terminal 2: O O: Terminal 5

Terminal 3: O O: Terminal 6

Naturally, you'll have to drill a hole in your control plate and mount this switch first.

Wire the switch like this:

Wire Terminal 1 to Terminal 6. Unsolder the neck pickup's positive or hot wire from the pickup selector switch and solder it to Terminal 6 as well.

Solder a wire from Terminal #2 to the selector switch where you just removed the neck pickup's hot wire from.

Wire Terminal #4 to Terminal #3. Unsolder the neck pickup's negative or ground wire from the back of the volume pot and solder it to Terminal 3 as well.

Solder a wire from Terminal #5 to the back of the volume pot.

Das it!

There's also a third control knob behind the control plate for the gain boost. This preamp is chiefly responsible for Andy's signature tones.

I recalled Denis Galuszka told the original Police-era preamp was dead and the Custom Shop reproduced it.

The original AS Tele had an original Gibson PAF humbucker while the Tribute version uses a Seymour Duncan SH-59N which sounds close to the original Gibson PAF.
