Chaps...

I'm contemplating building a Telecaster starting with the body from eBay (approx $125)

Any advice/comments/feedback on whether this is a sensible project or should I just wise up and stop being silly? :-)

well i guess i makes sense if you know what you are doing.but all things considered, when you buy all the others stuff (pups,neck,hardware...) maybe it would be wiser to just go and buy one:) oh,and i noticed the body blank you sent a pic off,it´s not a one piece, but two as far as i can see.you should check warmoth for somethinf og larger quality maybe.

I'm doing the same thing with a body from an american deluxe tele. It's actually pretty fun and pretty damn easy to do. However make sure you're getting what you want. Also the more you look into it the more options you'll find. Do your research and you can get your dream tele out of it. Good luck.

i was thinkin of doing something similar but i just dont have the cash what with university fee etc. i did however attempt to make an entire guitar from scratch in design technology, you know doing all the routing and shaping however i wanted.
i tell you it was fun evn though in this case it didnt sound all that great, but my school payed for that one not me.

i think that is something you should think about, the satisfaction of playing your own custom tele, i would do it if i were you.

Thanks guys...

I think I probably will go ahead with this project but ensure I buy a one piece body...

Any advice on which pick-ups to use? I tend to use my Tele for playing older R&B stuff and bear in mind I already have a Mexican Tele with standard Fender pick-ups...

Thanks again...

One of my younger brother's has a Tele project he has been working on. He is putting a baritone neck on his. Should be interesting.

Lindy Fralin makes great Tele pickups. They'll even wind them to match the sound you're after.
