Hi again everyone, needing to pick your brains again.........

Possibly looking to do a deal on a 52 RI tele in Copper finish.... only thing is there isnt a COA with the guitar!!

First thing is, could you give me your honest opinion on the actual guitar?

Also, would the lack of COA affect the re-sale value from my point of view?

Finally, is it possible (via Fender) to replace the COA?

Many thanks for any help/info you can throw my way

Was this model only ever made in the USA?

The guitar is a 97, and Im told this model/colour was a very limited run, is this the case?

Yes USA & 1997 only (along with the black/white guard Tele). Specs are vintage, which is the same as the current '52RI. Fender Custom Shop recently did a limited Copper finish relic model.

I think this model (along with all '52RI's ) came with a COA up until over a year or so ago. I know Fender CS does offer replacement COA's (for $75) but not certain about one for a '52RI. Email their Customer Service. They usually respond fairly quickly.

I wouldn't sweat the lack COA regarding the resale. These have appreciated a bit over the last few years but not a ton.

I have since sold both the copper and the black/white guard, but both were very nice Telecasters.

Holy crap that black/gold Tele is beautiful! Pardon my ignorance, but what model is that Csapo? Is that one of the 52RI? That really might be one of the nicest Tele's I've seen in a while. I was just thinking a few days ago that I'd love a Tele that was black with gold hardware. Very nice.
Sorry for cutting in on your post vindaloo69. And good luck with the new guitar.

If I'm not mistaken the original owner can get a new COA. You might ask Mike Eldred in the "Ask Mike Eldred " forum or see if member Alain can enlighten you. He would know. That's a fine guitar so good luck in getting a COA. I know I'd want one.

If you have any questions about this product registration or the warranty duration extension offer, please call Fender Consumer Relations at: 1 (800) 856-9801, or e-mail us at consumerrelations@fender.com

Here is a thread where Alain talks about getting a replacement COA,

Hey fhopkins..... Thanks for the links, will check them out tomorrow. Got confirmation from fender regarding the origin of the guitar and regards the COA it was a no.
After a 6 hour round trip through snow and ice i finally have the guitar in my hands!!!
I have viewed in some envey the beauty of some guitars shown on here. Truly gorgeous instruments. However, for a regular joe like me, this guitar is a dream come true!!! The colour is just breathe taking and the tones and playability again are just amazing.
I am by no means a gifted guitarist, but this thing humbles me an inspires me to better myself!!
a truly awesome instrument that, sad or not, really has changed my life....

Words cant explain how i feel right now, and on that note im off to enjoy to the small hours and begin a new chapter in my own world of the telecaster :)

I also own a copper '52RI. they're fantastic guitars. I got mine with original case, case candy, and extras for about 799. mine didn't have a COA too. I took it apart and everything fits so I am not worried about its authenticity. I'll post a pic when I can. basically looks like Csapo's.
