[color=darkblue]Help!
Already play Strat US 1. Recently bought Tele Standard. Both maple necks. Love the tone of the Tele and the feel of the neck, but much prefer the playability of the Strat neck. My dream is to have the best of both worlds and have a Strat neck on my Tele. Can this really be done without loss of tone?
Any suggestions/comments welcome. Just don't want to fork out a fortune.

Welcome!

The Strat neck can be retrofitted on the Tele body with no problem and no loss of tone. Now depending on the cut of the Strat body where it accepts the neck, you may not be able to retrofit the Tele neck on the Strat body. If you posted a picture of the Strat body (minus the neck) I could immediately tell you whether it is a go or you'll have a problem.

I dig....I dig.Thanx for reply Martian. Feel more reassured. Maybe my best bet is to get my luthier to find a similar neck for the Tele and leave my original Strat alone, cause I ain't about to dismount the 2 axes only to find out that I can't put 'em back together again without damaging something (yep, I'm useless...)

You're welcome.

To elaborate: The heel of Tele necks are squared off whereas Strat necks are rounded. SOME Strat bodies have a squared off cutout like Tele bodies where obviously, they'll accept a Tele neck, some Strat bodies don't. Either way, your Strat's pickguard would have to be reshaped in that area to accept the Tele neck.

If your luthier knows his stuff, he'll be able to tell instantly whether you have the 'expanded' Strat body. He'll also be able to open up (via routing) the Strat body/pickguard to accept a Tele neck.

And no, you are not useless; not everyone is 'wired' the same. Me for example, I'll disembowel any guitar and put it back together better than before (if I do say so myself) but I wouldn't dare even think of working on an automobile!
