The only thing I dislike about mine is the inherent intonation problems of the 3 saddle bridge. Compensated saddles sorted that out.
The fretwork wasn't great on mine from new. I sorted it out.
The bridge pickup route shows on the treble side of the bridge.

Minor things that in no way discouraged me from buying the guitar.
I absolutely love mine, it's constantly the guitar next to me. Brilliant neck, great pickups. Not a huge fan of the s1 down sounds, love the 4th position in phase though. A very solid, rough n ready, giggable, versatile guitar. For the £430 I paid for mine, I can't think of another guitar to match it.

9.5" Neck radius, from what I've researched. That's a tight, vintage-style layout.

It's a fine guitar. As niki said the 3 saddle thing can be compelling... but I think thats a minor issue. The Baja has been on my target list for some time. Im pretty sure it will end up in the stable very soon

I came really close to one yesterday, but the seller wanted a bit more than I was willing to pay and wouldn't budge.

The only problem I've had with mine, was the jackplug socket. I had it replaced last week, a very sound guitar. Bad luck Mike, keep looking, you won't regret it.

I bought a Desert Sand Baja about a month ago and haven't put it down yet. What a great Tele!

Like the Ninja says - a bit of intonation problems, but minor enough not to worry about - new saddles will fix it if it annoys me enough. Finish wise it's awesome - no Tele "butt-crack" on mine. Everything about it is perfect. I'm not sure of the weight, but it's no heavier than my other Tele's. Lot's of options with the 4 way switching and S1 system. I haven't even got them all sorted out yet. Custom shop pickups - you can't ask for better. The neck is great - no fret problems.

I've got 15+ Tele's in my herd, American, Mexican and Japanese - it's right at the top of them all - ignore the MIM designation - it's as nice a Tele that's made, and certainly at the very top of the line for a MIM model. I think the difference between the MIM and MIA's are getting less and less with each new MIM Tele I buy. I also bought a FSR Butterscotch MIM from Guitar Center last month - same thing - an awesome MIM Tele - no issues at all.

You better go get yourself a Baja - time's a wastin'!

I must admit, I'm a sod for fretwork. In defense of my Baja (how do you say it? Badger?) Tele, it's fretwork was better than my Anniversary Deluxe strat. The only guitar I've ever had that hasn't needed me to address fretwork was my Hotrod.

Nice to know that the 'butt crack' doesn't appear on all of em. The intonation is a problem on all vintage accurate tele's, if you let it trouble you. It's easily solved. I just wish someone made a 6 brass saddle tele bridge. That would be perfect.

I have one CIJ - it's a 2007 '60s re-issue w/ a Bigsby. Candy Apple Red, white binding top and bottom. Rosewood neck. Very nice guitar!

I did a truss rod adjustment (releasing), intonation, lubricate nut... and now:

It is an awesome guitar. Position 4 whith S-1 on is UNIQUE! It never gets out of tune...
I'm very very satisfied with my baja tele... I paid 550€ for it and I think it could cost 1000 easily...

oh, sorry for my english...

Guys,

It is a little late on this thread but I wanted to thank you all for the comments. I've been playing a Strat for some time and really wanted a Tele. Last Thursday, while in a music store, I had a great opportunity to pick up a Classic Player Baja Tele. I played it a while and fell in love. Before the "big" purchase I checked this thread out on the Forum and it confirmed my feelings. Went back and bought it! Absolutely love it and just when I wanted to tell everyone - the forum went down :( It is my first Fender without a neck adjustment for the truss rod but I suspect that is not a big deal?

Getting a new guitar is a wonderful thing!

Color is Desert Sand with white vintage pickguard. Beautiful.

Now I can play on the Tele side of the forum too.

Welcome Cambo!

Glad you're here - we're a cooler bunch of guys to hang out with than the guys on the Strat board any day!
