The new one's are crap. Especially compared to the old one's.
I mean look at the craftsmanship on mine. The binding, and it's so solid.
I hate to sell it, but I have too many guitars.

Yes, made in China.
Hardly qualifies as Genuine Fender.

I have one of the new ones and it is a really great player. I have had several people want to play it because it sounds amazing plugged in.....so not sure if you maybe played a lemon.

I may go look at a used one similar to this (I think), it's pretty cheap. Which model do you have airbornestrat? For me, the appeal would be that it has a tele neck and would be a little louder unplugged than my 72 thinline RI. I already have new Martin and vintage Gibson dreadnaughts, so I'm not looking for a real acoustic guitar. But I enjoy plinking around on my unplugged telecasters while sitting on the porch. :D

Now the older, all-wood models like Fendermatic's would be nicer, but that's a lot more than one like this that I might be able to get for around $150. But if it just feels like cheap plastic junk, then I won't waste my money. We shall see...

Boyd,
Your mint condition JP Telecoustic is waiting for you...truely a thing of beauty.

Make me an offer I can't refuse! 8)

Seriously, do want something that will never go up in value or possibly depreciate?
Or would you rather have something of quality, rare and precious, with potential for appreciation in value for a few hundred bucks more?

That is really pretty, and I'm sure your price is fair. Also, I have never bought anything from craigslist or ebay and doubt that I ever will. I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot of bargains but it's just not my style.

Yours is way beyond what I would be willing to pay for something just to fool around with. Best wishes, hope you are able to sell it soon.

I should have posted an update, sorry. I went to the Guitar Center where they had the used telecoustic and talked them down to $150 so I bought it. For what I paid, I'm very happy. Didn't get it as a "serious" guitar, but am having a lot of fun just plinking around with it unplugged out on the porch. I am not too concerned with my $150 "investment" depreciating.

I believe mine is a 2004 model, here's a picture of it!

Well, I need to raise a little cash, as I'm currently unemployed.
I"m considering taking her to the local consignment shop, and
taking a 25% hit on the price. But I just can't bear to do it.

If someone on this forum wants to make me a reasonable offer, I might be
inclined to accept it for this ultra rare, beautiful, and well made quality guitar.

If we get that point, you'll find I have a 100% pos selling score on ebay beginning in 1999, and haven't ever had a negative and I've sold a lot of stuff.
Same goes for the mercedes forum I'm on, sold stuff to people there, people wrote it there to help me have a good rep,
and even to people on other sides of the country on craigslist. So, while you should be alert and aware when buying stuff through online channels, I think I can allay your fears, and prove I'm reputable prior to any money changing hands.

Thanks.

I own a Fender Telecoustic Deluxe (with the white scratchplate fitted) and I love it. I don't have a hard case though and cant find one to fit. Would love a case like that.

There isn't a Telecoustic Deluxe. Your guitar is an American Deluxe Power Tele with the Fishman Powerbridge and an active mid-boost circuit for the piezos.

The other guitar that will be released by Fender in its electracoustic series is the Fender Telecoustic Deluxe, an acoustic replica of the Telecaster model with electric and acoustic pickups that can be used independently or together. Although being an acoustic model it features Telecaster’s neck and headstock.

The Fender Telecoustic Deluxe features laminated maple body with laminated spruce top, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5″ scale length, Fender Rosewood with compensated saddle bridge, Fishman Classic IV MB preamp, one single-coil Telecaster pickup, built-in electronic tuner, volume, bass, mid, treble and blend (blends between the Telecaster and the Fishman pickups) controls.

Just and FYI, this did eventually sell for 600 with a gig bag to a collector.

That's a nice looking guitar. I have been skeptical about these in the past, but this thread has aroused my curiousity. The specs on the current model indicate a fiberglass back/sides and laminated spruce top (they look quite different from yours though). http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0967310006

And they are really inexpensive - Guitar Center lists them for $255 with used ones for under $200. Guessing they are now made in China? Does anyone have one of this newer models? What do you think of it? I have never seen one in person.

Some of the Fender stuff, like some Modern Players, are pure gold for the money. My MP Jaguar has a neck I wish my Amer. Std. Tele had. Smooth finish wise. Same for my Amer. Les Paul. Online stores let you return stuff if you are not happy. IMO. Right now, Fenders out of China can be the hot deal we all hope to get one day.
