Hi All,

I've just been exposed to the horror stories involving guitar stand padding and nitro-cellulose finished guitars. I keep a few of my guitars out at once including my 52 reissue tele and am looking for a triple guitar stand to keep them safe and sturdy.

Does anyone know if the On-Stage Flip-it stands are Nitro-safe? Any other suggestions?

I actually just received a cheapo stand that I ordered on impulse and it came with a tag that says, "Not recommended for Nitro-Cellulose... blablahblah ... unexpected chemical reaction....blahblah...damage finish!" I don't even want to take it out of the box!

This was the first I'd heard about this problem and after googling it I'm a bit freaked out. I don't baby my Tele but I absolutely cherish it.

Thanks for the help!

Nathan

Oh! Also, what about wall hangers? Are there any that are safe that will work with a Tele headstock?

Cut the fingers out of some old gloves and just slip them over the rubber pads-works for me.

+1. Sounds like a creative yet simple fix. Gloves or probably any other soft material wrapped around would probably be the easiest way to deal with it.

Thanks guys. If I don't get rid of it altogether I'll cover it with something.

Cheers!

I have a Hercules triple stand, a few single guitar stands, and a few wall hangers. All nitro safe, and guaranteed to last. I've been using Hercules stands/hangers for about four years now. Not one single accident in that time, the grip locks the guitar in. The wall hangers grip twists to suit the Tele, although the stands hold a Tele/Strat/LP without any problem. Here's the website..... http://www.herculesstands.com/guitars/guitarstands.html

Thanks, Snowy.

I've always been leery of the Hercules stands with Teles but I guess you can just twist the head?

The tele head actually fits snugly in the stand and when you pull on the body it dosn't budge.

Tanner is correct, the Tele fits into the triple and single stands very snugly. The wall hangers actually twist, it's not necessary imho. But I do find myself adjusting to suit the Tele, sounds like a contridiction I know  Check out the video on the Hercules website, it will explain better than I can  Above all, it's a safe and sturdy guitar stand. Well worth the money too, good luck bud.

Right on. Thanks guys. I've just seen Teles hanging in shops resting on their tuning pegs if you know what I mean. Probably just due to careless customers.

Love the way those guitars look in the hang-stands. I think I'll check 'em out and pick one up!

Cheers.

Great forum by the way! What's cooler than chatting about Tele's?

While I'm at it, thought I'd introduce some of my guitars:

I have one of these "Rockstands" that hold my 5 guitars. I have wondered about both finish and neck stress on my guitars by storing them this way. I have never seen any problems with the finish. What are your thoughts on long term storage on this type of stand?

Two questions for a realtive neophyte: I like the glove fingers idea but I guess I'd have to work out something for the part that holds the neck too, or is there just not enough pressure there to matter? And, are all Tele finishes a concern? How do I know if mine has nitro?

I have the Hercules double stand and have used it with both my Strat and my Tele (both nitro). Works great.

i have one of the cheap triple stands, all three guitars sit in a triangle with backs facing each other. i hate that design, but it was a gift. i am going to get a 5 rack stand and replace the foam with felt and just glue it on.

probably on the bottom of round rails, just overlap the felt with a few dabs of superglue. keep it on the bottom so no rough patches ruin the finish of the guitar.
