Wow I'm amazed. How can you tell? I don't really look for stuff like that...I mean I like to buy brand new from Fender, just wondering....

Definitely not an Am Std. I like the sticker that says; "a Better Sounding Better Playing Bass"

The seller knows its a fake and dont give a damn.

We've tried reporting these fakes to Fender in the past and they're never removed from eBay. This listing is so close to Xmas, people cant afford to lose this type of money ( not in the UK with the way things are ).

Report to Ebay as counterfeit and hopefully it will be withdrawn before anyone is duped into buying it under the impression that it was made by Fender.

How do you know the seller is aware that it is a fake?

I found a thread on another forum where someone else noticed the listing . They reported it to ebay but nothings been done about it.

There was an exchange of messages where the seller was told it was a fake, and the seller basically said tough luck and asked for their listing to be left alone.

I have reported it too. Hopefully if enough attention is brought to the listing it will be withdrawn.

A buyer will be entitled to their money back given that the description is misleading. The worry is that somebody will buy it and put it away as a very special Christmas present.

It be will interesting to see if Ebay withdraw this.

I have seen fishy guitars left to run and re-listed despite reporting to Fender and Ebay.

Caveat emptor.

I remember back in 2004-2007 Fender vero were very pro-active on eBay.

Fake listings would be pulled within hours at most, but recently nothing seems to be removed.

I concur with your comments regarding xmas presents. People dont have the money to throw away on junk like this. I have also contacted Fender UK and Fender USA in hope someone may be able to act when they return to work after the weekend.

It would be great if a Fender rep could check the forums out for notifications of suspect fakes.

I sent an email to the seller this morning, pointing out the various reasons why this was not an American Standard, asking him to compare to a legit American Telecaster. The ad has now ended three days early, doesn't say why.
