Hi, all

I'm thinking about getting a classic series MIM 50's Esquire, and wanted to ask if anyone has one, and what they think of them. It's just for me to play at home, it won't be gigged with at all. I really just want a guitar with a 7.5 inch radius maple fretboard, and would rather get a Tele-style guitar than another Strat, just for the sake of variety.

What do people like/dislike about these guitars?

Thanks!

I've had a blonde MIM Esquire for about 6 months. I love it! I strung mine up with flatwound .09's for a bit different tone. I really like the flatwounds on the Esquire.

It forces me to better my playing style to pick up different tone. With only 1 PUP, I pay closer attention to my style of playing. I play closer to the bridge and try to vary the pick angle and attack to vary the tone a bit.

The fit and finish of the guitar is outstanding. It's really hard to fault the newer MIMs.

You should absolutely get one!

Thanks for the replies, guys! :)

Okay - I think this will be my next guitar. I've never owned a MIM Fender, but some of the ones I've tried recently have impressed me. I played an Esquire a couple of years back, but didn't end up buying it, although the memory of it has stuck with me.

Thanks again, everyone!

I absolutely love mine. I bought the white blonde on that Fender took to the NAMM show in January 2005, when the MIM Esquire was introduced. Still has the little NAMM inventory sticker on the back of the headstock.

The tone and sustain are to die for. I didn't think I'd notice the difference between and Esquire and a Tele on the neck pickup, but I was wrong. Play a good one with fresh strings, and the differences in sustain and harmonic content will jump out at you.

As with MIM Teles and Strats MIM Esquires are exemplary guitars and far ahead in quality and sound than most other guitars in that price range.
