Hello all,

I just purchased a new deluxe nashville tele and love it, but I have a strange buzz on the b string when its played open or while trying to tune the string. It goes away when the string is pressed. I changed the strings last night but the problem still persists. Any thoughts on what I can do to correct this? Thanks in advance, Patrick

Buzz only when the string is played open indicates a problem with the nut. Make sure the but slot is cut correctly (not too deep and without any burrs along the edge rubbing against the string). I have a Baja Tele that had a buzzy open D string when I bought it new. My local guitar tech spent 10 seconds filing the nut slot smooth and that took care of the problem. Hope it's an easy fix for you also.

p.s. Check also check you have the B string under the string tree and have the proper number of string winds around the tuning post. Without downward pressure between the nut and tuner the string can buzz as it sits loosely in the nut slot.

Thanks for the reply, I will check that tonight. I also wondered if the string was touching the bridge saddle spring just right it might also be causing this. Thanks again.
