A used american off of craig's list. It's marked z717etc...

6 bills and it's in real good condition. How do I post pics? It's a normal ole black with white pickgaurd, but the guy put the 4 way s-1 switching in it, which is a bonus, because I wanted to do that myself.

It plays really nice BUT, I can't get harmonics very much on the 5th fret. It's got probably old strings and they're only .09's. I don't know if that has something to do with it. It seems set up pretty well. Maybe new strings will help that?

I think that you want to copy and paste the url for a link.

Code:
[url]http://images1.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp%3A%3A%3B%3Enu%3D3235%3E392%3E252%3EWSNRCG%3D33%3C94%3B4276339nu0mrj[/url]

To get a clickable link that we can click to view the picture.

http://images1.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp%3A%3A%3B%3Enu%3D3235%3E392%3E252%3EWSNRCG%3D33%3C94%3B4276339nu0mrj

You can use the preview first, before you use submit, to see if your link works. I couldn't get the picture to show using "[img]", I think that there is a separate code for that. I use PhotoBucket, they give an "img" code that allows the picture to show here. But, nice Tele!!!! I bet that it sounds as good as it looks. :)

Are you having the 5th fret harmonic problem only when plugged in?

I noticed that the neck pickup on my Tele doesn't pick up the 5th fret harmonic. If I switch to the bridge pickup or both pickups I can hear it loud and clear but when I switch to the neck pickup there's nothing.

I think it has to do with the placement of the neck pickup. I noticed that the neck pickup is placed directly under the spot where this harmonic is. (same harmonic at 5th and over the neck pickup)

Thanks guys. I have a couple more really good pics and hopefully I'll figure it out. I can do it on other websites but for some reason I'm having a hard time here.

It plays real nice. I don't know if I said this but it has .09's on it and I have some .11's to put on it. That's just how I like it. Plus, the action is a bit high for my tastes. There is a little more bow in it than I think necessary so I may do a truss rod adjustment. And I'm sure the .11's will pull a little more I'm guessing. But there is one thing that has me baffled, does this have another neck adjustment? Like a shim adjustment? It's got a hole on the backside, where the chrome plate is for the neck. I actually didn't look real good in there yet, and I'll do that today probably. But I remember reading about another adjustment that brings the neck closer to the strings. Possibly.

Also, do you guys keep your bridge super flat, or do you try to contour the strings the the curve on the frets? Meaning, are your middle strings a hair higher than the 6th and 1st? Or is it best to just keep it flat? Maybe this is a personal preference thing? Or proper set up?

I put 10s on mine, I also thought that the 9s weren't enough, 11s might be cool.
Yes, the "Micro-Tilt" neck angle adjustment serves the same purpose as the old shim. Check the website for adjustment directions, there is an Allen screw in the hole.
I usually like to have some curve at the bridge, but a little flatter than the neck radius.

I just followed the curve of the neck. Not sure if it makes any difference. You may be right that it's a personal preference thing. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will chime in.

The 11's are the way to go for strings, you might want to lower the action a bit if the person you got it from never took the time to get it set up proper.. it might be a nicer guitar than already appears  grats on the score

Once I put some .11's on there and lower the action a bit, it's going to play a whole lot nicer than it does now. And it's not bad right now. Just a little bit higher than I like. I think he had it set up when he bought it 2 years ago. And he supposedly checked the height like the set up directions say here on the website. He seemed pretty meticulous, but not an expert. So....

Plus, I don't know if this is crazy, but it almost seems like it got higher since I've had it. Almost like it's been sitting for a while and now it's settled in differently. Is that possible?

I have to get a stand for it, because otherwise it's sitting in the case. The stand I have for my acoustic doesn't hold the thinner tele headstock.

I have another question. Is there a difference between S-1 and a 4 way switch, technically speaking? Or electrically? This guy put the switch in that has 4 pos. And the farthest forward he said that the pups are "In Series". I think is what he says. I don't know what it is but I like it. And the next 3 positions sound like what a tele should. 2 pos back is neck, 3 pos back is both and 4th pos back is bridge. But I'm not sure technically what that 1st position farthest forward is called or how it is wired. But it sounds good. Has more bass, and a different sound than the other normal positions.

I realize that some of the S-1's have the volume knob tapped and that's how it's achieved or manipulated. But does this 4 pos switch accomplish the same action, just in a different way?

I just adjusted the truss rod because it needed it according to the set up specs here. And I love it even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It actually is a hair lower than what they recommend, but I didn't put on the new strings, which is going to be a heavier gauge. Now, according to the specs, the saddles need to be lowered a little. But I don't have allen wrenches that small. I had some pretty small ones from adjusting the starcaster, but these are a little smaller. What worries me is that I thought when I went to the hardware store, I bought the smallest they had. Are these special sizes?

I might have to call fender to get the specs on the size of that. Unless anyone knows?
