I recently got the action on my MIM Esquire raised, but now I find the high E string is slipping from the Kluson tuners. I can get the string wound so far but before getting it to pitch it slips out of the tuner and . . . well I'm running out of spare E strings . . . I've already tried 4 times to no avail. Does anyone have any solutions?

Need more info...vintage tuners ?... Do you stick the string in the post
and then wound around the post 3 to 4 times ?
