hello everyone,

I'm very interested about the tele with bigsby, is there any certain model that have bigsby(like 62' reissue,or 50's)? how's the price for a used one?
will it be hard to find a tele w/bigsby in US?

Location: In a house....unless I'm at work....then I'm in a shop.
Checking e-bay, there are 6 Telecasters with a Bigsby right now, everything from a MIM red one with a buy it now of 375.00 to a real 1968 factory one that is like 6800.00ish right now.

Good luck.

so, how about buying a bigsby tremolo and install it on a tele, does it work?
will it have any difference for the sound?

Fender Japan makes a real nice 60's reissue w/ a Bigsby. Mine is Candy Red w/ double white binding - it's a beauty. They were in the Fender catalog until this year. You see them on eBay every now and then. I like mine. As long as I don't try to play like Hendrix it'll stay in tune.

As far as an add-on, Bigsby makes a kit for the Tele. They aren't too difficult to install and sound pretty well the same.

Check eBay for awhile though - I'll bet you'd rather have the factory version vs the add-on.

a bigsby is as easy as it gets to add on should take no more than 15 minuts.

thanks for your reply,

I checked ebay, and there are some bodies of tele w/bigsby, so I think get the body from ebay and neck from warmoth is also a good way,
how do you guys think? if I do this, what should I take notice of selecting a neck to matcha body?

RickyD, can you show pic of your tele? or anyone can show your tele w/bigsby?

actually it probably would cost you less to buy a whole guitar and add a bigsby than buy a guitar body with a bigsby then add a warmouth neck or a fender neck. the one that goes on that will fit many guitars. ive got one ive had for years its currently on a ric 325 but its been on 3 other guitars. bigsby now sells an easy mount plate for them as well.

Here's a link to what mine looks like. It's my #2 Tele in my ever expanding collection.

Here's the link to the Bigsby site. I was at the Arlington, TX show last year and talked at length w/ the Bigsby guy. It's fairly straightforward to install their kit on a Tele.

My 2 cents worth... Find the re-issue like I have. It is an absolutely flawless guitar. The Japanese craftsmanship is perfect. The Tele sounds awesome w/ the Texas Specials. My only critique is the weight (which can't be helped - you're adding a Bigsby!). I'd get tired toting it around all night, but that's what a guitar stand is for. I wouldn't want it for my only Tele, but it's sure nice to have in the line-up.

Keep checking eBay. They show up on occasion. Also - check w/ some of the retail Fender shops that list guitars on eBay. They may have one in stock that they aren't listing. It only costs a phone call to find out.

I don't know that I'd go the partscaster route - I'm not sure of the problems sticking an aftermarket neck on a Japanese body. Plus - I think you'd be happier with a factory original. Just my 2 cents...
