OK, I've tried everything and love the tele as I may, the sound at the neck is not what I want. Bridge alinco 50 is great...so replacement there a success. The 8 neck pickup is next. I changed out the capacitor for a beefier sound..but...

Can I install a decent Fender or Seymoure D pickup made for a Strat to get that more blues sound?...with good midrange. Even a Mini Buckler?

If so, which pickup do you suggest...and do I have to maintain a two wire construct on purchase as many I'm looking to install have three or even four.

HELP?

I make Teles from parts all the time. Yes, I always use Fender or Fender licensed parts. I've put in all kinds of pickups, just to see what happens. A favorite is to put a Strat pickup in the neck. You can even find a pickguard on Ebay that is perfectly modified! I've used fairly new Fender American pickups, again purchased on Ebay. I like to play with the switch in the middle position, and this sounds really full. Another set up I've done a few times is to put a Gibson Sonex 180 pickup in the neck position. They weren't high output 'buckers, so they are a good match. Also, they are only two wire, so install is a snap. They are pretty common on Ebay. Its a bit of a pain if you have to route the body. I really like the tone, and it gives the axe kind of a Keith Richards look.
