So I'm planning on ordering a vintage pearloid pickguard from warmoth for my deluxe blackout tele...Question is:
They have a note that the pickguard will fit most american and japanese guitars, and the blackout is MIM. I'm assuming the dimensions are all about the same, but does anyone know if that's the case? Are the dimensions the same for MIA and MIM pickguards?
I really don't feel like shelling out $35 + shipping for a part that won't fit my guitar. esp. since it has to be custon ordered thanks to the third pickup on this guitar.

Why not just get the Fender built unit, that one you know will fit.

Fender doesn't carry pickguards that will fit this guitar. All the accessories I see on the site are for the regular 2-pickup teles (and maybe one for the Nashville Tele). Problem is, the blackout has 3 pickups, the middle pickup being the same as the neck pickup. If I'm missing something that fender carries, please point me in the right direction, I just haven't seen anything that they have to fit this guitar. I would prefer to go through fender though.

Sorry, I missed that you have a deluxe.

The main difference in pick guards is usually the screw hole placement, so you may need to drill new holes.

There are some on e-bay that will make for you a custom pick guard, all you need to do is take your old one off the do a trace on a sheet of paper.
The price is usually fairly reasonable.

Yeah, I actually ran across a couple places on eBay a little bit ago, so I'll look into those too. I think I'll just give warmoth a call and see if anyone there can help me. Thanks for the ideas.

The blackout is an amazing guitar, one of the best values Fender offers.

It should have the same spacing and the old Nashville Tele's though. one of these should fit it.

Thanks BCB...I think that might leave a slight gap around the middle pickup...but I don't think it'd be a huge ordeal. I'm going to call warmoth tomorrow and just double check before I order the pickguard, cuz it looks like it'll fit properly.
And yeah, the blackout is awesome. I was planning on picking up a used MIA Strat when I went to guitar center and saw the blackout hanging there, tried it out and never hung it back up. I MIA strat had a neck that was a little more comfortable in my hands, but the tone of the blackout with it's so-called "vintage" pickups just blew everything else away. Needless to say I have been very happy with this guitar, just wanna spice up the appearance a little with a nicer pickguard.
Thanks guys for the input and ideas, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to figure out something that will work.

please post pics of it when you get the guard change, I'd love to see that. the blackout was my first ever tele so I am kind of partial to them, but they are just unbeatable for the money. I traded mine in on a Hwy 1 and wish I could have kept it. Very versatile guitar.
