I ordered a new American Deluxe Telecaster in August and am still waiting for my guitar. I have been playing acoustic for over twenty years. I know about 30 chords but learned by listening and trying. I want to play better and learn more so I can play better. I have been looking at a number of offerings on line such as FretBoard Logic, GuitarTips and GuitarControlHelp, etc. Can some of you comment on which of these may be the best training tool? From what I have been reading the past several months I need some theory, scales, etc. if I want to expand my abilities. If you know of another that might be a good tool include that too. I have no intention of becoming a professional musician but I do want to play better and learn different styles of music.

marty is good. i like him, but, hes missing a bunch.
best forum ive seen for lessons is
guitartricks.com
to get the lessons you have to pay monthly. i paid for the first month
just to see if they were anything i would be interested in.
it was cheap enough that i really wouldnt miss the money at all.
well, ive been a fan every since. best online lessons site ive seen.
worth double the monthly fee easy.
try it for 1 month then report back. bet you keep your membership. just try it and see. its pretty inexpensive
for what you get.

Thanks, Cool. I had looked at that one and a couple of others. I check it out in depth. Going one month to start up is good logic.

im excited to hear what you have to say about it. i brought it before the board here a while back and the nay sayers went on forever about it and how it was a bad idea, then there were some that just knew it wouldnt be worth the money. lol
man they dont know what they are missing.
go check it out. the monthly fee one would spend on vending machines at work in 3 days. go do it and report back to this thread. im dying to hear your opinion. its the perfect site for training and theory in my opinion.
warning, they do start at the very begining lol, but you can skip ahead
as far as you want to.

i did. its nothing in depth at all. leaves the player needing still.
go look at the link i gave and try them for 1 month.
its the same instrutors from your first link's guitartricks songs.
they walk you through every single detail on several styles, but from the very begining.
how they do it is very hard to explain. its a very well thought out site
with a solid lesson plan no matter your experience level.
of course there are guys out there that already know it all and cant be taught anything new. they will show up shortly to bash the thread im sure.
even randy rhoads took lessons up until the day he died. i wonder why he did that?

jak, do yourself a favor bro. go to the link i gave, spend your $12 for 1 month and then tell everybody what you think. everybody has $12 they can afford to spend (as a gamble) just to see if im right and if you learn something very sweet from that site. beside, the have a money back guarantee i believe. i never bothered to read it because its well worth my $12 a month so i didnt worry with it at all.
they even teach the "touch method" of playing. yes, from the very begining lol. if you dont know touch look it up on youtube.
