The Fat Tele was discontinued in mid-2003 but it was replaced by a Tele HS (and a Tele HH if you want 2 humbuckers). Those models lasted until 2006 if I'm remembering correctly. You may want to widen your search to include "Tele HS" or "Telecaster HS" to find one of those models. There are some differences between them and the Fat Tele - the Fat Tele had a Duncan '59 (or maybe a Seth Lover) in the neck position and the Tele HS has a Fender-designed humbucker with the S-1 switch to split the pickup coils.

The US Fat Tele had an Atomic (DH-1) humbucking pickup with chrome metal covers in the neck and a Delta Tone single-coil in the bridge. This guitar was capable of producing a bevy of amazing tones - from classic country twang to howling crunchy rock - all via a super 5-way pickup switching system which cuts the inner coil of the Atomic for that traditional single-coil neck pickup sound.

Originally available with both rosewood and maple fretboard in 1998, the US Fat Tele was offered only with a rosewood fretboard from 2001 until its discontinuation in 2003.

This guitar is not mine: it's a parts-a-caster with a 2003 hot-rod American Series ash body finished in sienna sunburst and an ebony-capped maple neck from a 2006 Deluxe FMT HH.

I've been told I have a 98' Fat Tele but until now haven't seen one like it.
Looks like the same humbucker as the two in this thread, but has a maple neck, a Fender branded Lace Sensor in the bridge, Fender branded locking tuners.

Like the 2 in this thread the humbucker has 3 adjustment screws and I haven't seen another one.
Info has been sparse, so if anyone can refer me to a source devoted to
"Fat Teles", I would be grateful!

Gerry

Here's a Fat Tele with the rare all maple-neck option. This guitar was manufactured during the first year of production (circa 1998/99). The maple neck was dropped in 2001.
