So I bought a CP Baja Tele four months ago, and I pretty much don't play anything else these days. Prior to that, I was never a tele fan, but something (I don't know what) opened my eyes to them. Well, last night I'm watching Austin City Limits and Them Crooked Vultures are playing. Josh Homme is playing a red tele (more like vintage cherry, or some variation of) with rosewood fingerboard. That thing is beautiful, and Them Crooked Vultures isn't exactly a country/blues band. Perhaps many of you knew this already but I didn't - the telecaster seems like the most versatile guitar out there. Am I crazy here? Now I'm wanting one like Josh Homme's. Anybody know which one he has? I looked around, but couldn't find any details.

strattastic12,

No - you're not crazy - you're just beginning to see the light! I don't think you can find a better guitar than the Tele. You've got an awesome Tele with your Baja.

I think Josh Homme plays an American Deluxe Ash Tele. The color is Wine Transparent with a rosewood neck. It's for sure a modern Tele. It has the modern bridge and a 22 fret neck, B/W/B pickguard.

Check this link - it's the same guitar, only w/ a maple neck, but you can get them in rosewood. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TeleADAMWN/

Welcome to the Tele side of life!

RickyD

Thanks to all for your feedback (well, except for the dude looking to buy some sort of drug - not sure what that's all about). I've always been a strat guy, and used to look at a tele as a cutting board with strings. Lately, though, I'm really starting to appreciate its verstility. RickyD, that American Deluxe Ash is sweet. I may have to save my pennies. Actually, I should probably spend more time practicing. :D

Nothing crazy about loving Teles as most players are crazy about them anyway. My wife totally surprised me with my first Tele for Christmas '06 and it was love at first strum-I've since gotten it autographed by Marty Stuart and The Fabulous Superlatives which adds to my love for it.

Tele's have a way of growing on you. For years and years I have been a diehard Strat player and now I prefer the Tele. There is something magical about the Tele.. I get this great feeling holding one with the strap on. There is power in them geetars... lol

You are not alone,

TJ
