I just got a new American Tele which I love. I was wondering what people are setting the birdge pup at. Fender recommends 2mm and 1.8 which seems a bit high with the Delta Tone.

You need to check to see if the neck is set up properly first.

Don't assume its where it needs be. Did you check the spacing in the spec sheet on that first?

Did you change strings from 9s to 10s by any chance? Neck adjustment is generally required with string size alteration.

If it doesn't 'buzz' whats the problem, unless you 'pluck' the strings too hard.

i dont follow any kind of guidelines. i just crank them uo as high as i can with out any extra noise and go. that gives me lots and lots of bite. Heavey strings and cranked up pickups, that has always been my thing

How do you maintain proper intonation doing that?

You must have stainless frets, not std. because a darn set of only 11's nicked the heck out of a few on mine in less then a few months....now I have to have it re-done. I'm very disapointed in the tele medium frets. Poor quality, very poor-much too soft. I think the new Squires have better frets for heavens sake.

It's the only thing I haven't replaced yet...the neck. Woods good, nice, fast, straight; but, it cost less to replace it than re-fret it.

i have never had intonation problems, but if you get them to close the magnets add some weird harmonic problems. so i rasie them till i have that problem, and then lower them down until it quits. i havestock frets on all of mine, and i have no complates about them
