I just picked up my first MIM Telecaster this week. I went to the local music store they had a FSR Western Telecaster on sale. What a nice guitar! Neck feels great, pickups sound great with Texas specials, and a 4 way switch. I have an American and a Deluxe Telecaster, this guitar holds it own and cost about half. This one has a Ash body and looks as good as any Telecaster I have seen.
I am not sure if the quality control is as good as in the USA, but how could you get a better sounding and playing guitar for the price. So much better than most overseas guitars made. I was thinking about changing the bridge, however I still think this guitar plays great. What a wonderful guitar for the price of $499. :D

Congrats jellsn,

For the money, the MIM are terrific guitars second to none. The quality control is pretty good, it's usually only minor things that have to be addressed with the MIM models. The string spacing on the nut, the fret edges, and the setup are possibly the only things that you may have to look at as compared to MIA. And Texas Specials! Great pickups that are $100+ upgrade. You really must post some pictures (640x480 please).

Great choice for a guitar,I think that MIM Fenders offer more bang for the buck than many other brands costing much much more. They are exceptional guitars for the prices you pay for them.

Thanks guys,! I just felt like telling someone how happy I am with the guitar. It is such a nice playing instrument and very cool looking. I will work on posting pics. What do you guys think about the MIM saddles and bridge?
The frets feel okay and I do not feel the edges need to be sanded.
How do you fix the spacing problem?

If the string spacing is inconsistent on the nut, then you have to put on a new one. I cut my own slots on new nuts, but I've had some practice, it is easy to over cut the slot depth. You need some very thin scroll saw blades and/or files like 0.010 width. I use the blades to cut the slots, then files and pieces of wound strings to widen them to the proper slot width for each string. A shop might put on a new nut for $20 or so. :)

You can get proper nut files at Stew-Mac to do the neatest job of cutting the slots.

My friend has the same tele and it feels and sounds great. The quality is pretty good was great compared to some japanese and chinese models but still not as good as americans but still great for your money.

It seems like either MIM are hit or miss either its really good or its not (just me personally)

I love my MiMs. No complaints at all. They are definitely worth more than what we pay for them. I love my MiA too. No complaints whatsoever. It is a great time for Fenders, no matter where they are made. Enjoy your guitar.
