I think the vintage style bridge covers only fit vintage "ashtray" bridges. If you don't have the turned up sides, you are out of luck!

If your bridge plate doesn't have "turned up sides" as Guitargeezer says, it's not a tough mod to replace it. You'll have to re-intonate your guitar afterward. If this seeems too scary, have a pro do it for you. I own 3 Teles and I have the ashtry cover on all but one. The '72 thineline has an entirely different bridge!!
