My 2010 American Std Telecaster (1 month old), is having problems with the high E bridge saddle. It keeps lowering by itself. Both screws unwind. After 1-2 songs the string is touching the frets. Am I the only one

I'm thinking about putting some loctight on it but it might change the sound. I live far from a service center and purchased the guitar on line. Must have gotten lucky. wait times are long.

I already contacted fender. They are sending me a new saddle and screws. However, that was 2 weeks ago. Haven't seen any parts yet. They say, I'm the only one with this problem.

Nevin: Both screws do extend past the top of the saddle, but even when I play songs where my hand does not touch the saddle, it still occurs. I think vibration and poor machining of the saddle threads is probably the root cause. I just wanted to know if I was the only one with this problem. Thanks for your comment.

Just picked up a new Blizzard Pearl - no issues yet with the saddles (or anything else) but I'll let ya know!

mis-matched threads are probably the culprit. Being as new parts are being sent I would try the loctite I think there are 3 grades, the one that dries the hardest is going to have the least effect (if any) on the sound. check to see which one is the easiet to remove though. I don't think any grade would have much affect.

+1 on the Loctite. Non-permanent though. You need to be able to still turn the screw and adjust the saddle if need be.

Or try a drop of clear finger nails polish. It should hold well while you are playing and break easily enough should you ever need to adjust the saddle in the future.

But then again, you shouldn't be having this problem on a new guitar. Hope you get the new saddle and screws soon.

Solved: Fender sent me a new bridge saddle. Installed it with original screws. Now, it works fine and the string stays in tune. The problem was with the saddle the whole time.

same problem on my Fender Am Std Ash 2009...worst is that I live in Brazil and will have to contact the seller who sold it to me over the net...
in the beggining i thought it could be a bad tuning machine problem, but after sometime i realized it is really the third string saddle that keeps lowering, especially during bends..
i am using .010 roundwounds..
cheers,
Andre.
