I was in a Guitar Center recently and saw a Made in Mexico Tele with a Black/Copper burst paint job. It had brass bridge saddles and the control plate mounted with the knobs toward the neck and the selector switch towards the bridge. It had a model number of 0140013550. I think it's a Fender Special Run but I can't find any specs or information about it. What is it?

Hello
I just bought that guitar today. It's a FSR tele with Fender noiseless pickups. I can't find very much info on them but the guitar is amazing. I played it up against all the other Teles in the store including the USa models and IMO it played and sounded better than all of them. If it is still available plug it in to a Deluxe and you'll see what I mean.

That's the one... I think it's a bargain and they won't be around for long. I just bought a 50s tele with the Bigsby MIJ. I'm pretty sure they stopped making them. I'll post pics when it comes in. Hope it sounds as good as the FSR.

Apparently this "copperburst" and the "52 RI clone" are Guitar Center in-store only exclusives. I saw both these and played them both at my GC, I bought the Butterscotch "52 RI" clone as I call it. Played fantastic! Was lighter than this copperburst one too. From what I understand the FSR is less than 300 units.
You wont find anything online about it. I think there is a "silver-burst" one too!

Glad youre happy with this one, and congrats on a sweet guitar!

Glad to have found this post.

I won one of these yesterday at the Grand Opening of our GC here in Huntsville. When I got home I searched around and could not find what it was until I found this posting. Seems to play nice but I have not had a chance to plug it into my Fender HotRod Deluxe yet.

Looks like something I may want to hold on to being a special release.

I'm considering picking up one of the '52 RI clones, but I just don't like the reversed control plate. I've played them in the store and can't really get used to this feature. Does anyone know how difficult it is to switch this to the traditional configuration?

Those pics of the copperburst look great and would go well in the thread "Lets take a look at your tele", (57 pages of tele photos) I don't think there are any of these in there yet. Here's a link to that thread:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=109

PS: Does anyone have a link to all the NEW guitars for sale at Guitar Centre? I can only ever get a handful of new guitar details on their site and never any new Fender's. Of course I get pages and pages of used guitars.
