I have a telecaster with the serial number e807978 with a corona california neck plate and on the back of the headstock it reads "Handcrafted exclusively for Harry Sechrest" from the website on dating it appears to be a 1988, but I was wondering what it is? pickups?
or just the general story of the guitar from corona california? most of the tele's i seen in the 80's were mij. thanks

Is it on the famous archive list of Tele pics?

http://tele.protozoic.com/

I did see that name on a google search :

Product: Mesa/Boogie Studio Caliber DC-2
Price Paid: US $550 used
Submitted 05/31/2006 at 03:41pm by Harry Sechrest

Features : 10
I don't know the year of manufacture. I bought it used. This amp is very versatile for just about all styles of music. Blah, blah, blah, all the features have been covered. This small amp has more than adequate power for just about any small to medium size club. It has all the features that I feel are important.

Sound Quality : 9
I play classic R&R, country and jazz. This amp suits all styles in my opinion. The amp can get a little noisy at higher volume. For moderate volumes there are no complaints. I've never cranked it enough to distort the clean channel. The distortion can be brutal and harsh, but when using Contour you can get a nice fat driven sound. I bought a Mesa extension cab for mine. The amp really shines with the addition of a second 12" speaker.

its not that old, if i knew how to load pics i would take a pic of it and put it up for everyone. I am thinking of ripping it apart to look at the neck base.
does fender still write in pencil the date? is there anywhere else to check for details on the guitar?

Try contacting Harry.

If you google his name, he comes up on the second, third, fourth, etc pages under several music/guitar posts.

Do you have any pictures of this guitar?

Without seeing any photos it would be hard to id it from just the serial number.

I would like to point out that Fender did start making the American Standard Tele in late 1986. Like the Strats these used up left-over E4XXXXX serial number decals from late 1986 until early 1988 when they started using E8XXXXX decals.
