My store is not a big chain. An independent store. I don't think they will kill my order in 60 days. I really can't hold them responsible unless I hear something indicating otherwise. I'll just have to trust Fender to keep working on them and get them out soon. I want it to be perfect when I get it. No rush job. I don't know, maybe when you buy something stores don't generally keep on the wall it takes this kind of time to get them from the factory. I assume they have a scheduled run date for each model.

Not likely to happen to you. Something about GC's operation that brings them under Federal Law requiring to obtain a backorder update/renewal confirmation from the buyer on a 60 day cycle The submental moron who handled my file on the first go 'round failed to institute it properly , thus two weeks later it was cancelled. Thereafter it was immediately reinstated as a new order, but an online order. However, there was a time delay on the first cancellation so the cancelled credit authorization caught up with the second order and the credit card company pulled it. I said, enough with this BS, I'm not doing this dance every 60 days. Stupid is as stupid does and it was enough on their end. I wasn't going to be a party to the same.

ZZDoc,

I'm a little confused. If the buyer does not re-confirm the order every 60 days the order is cancelled? My order was placed in May and about two weeks later, for some reason, the order was cancelled and then re-entered resulting in a new order #. I have been dealing with the GM there, so hopefully he is watching for this sort of thing. I guess my next step would be to make sure my order is still in the system? I might as well work at both Guitar Center and Fender if I have to do this much work to get a guitar.

To quote Klaatu.."Close....but no." They contacted me by email advising me that I had to contact them to authorize them to continue the backorder otherwise it would be automatically cancelled. This I did. However, when their agent failed to enter the continuance properly, I was contacted that it was cancelled. So, as with you, a new order was placed with a new order number. However, that was cancelled when the credit authorization on the first order caught up with the one on the second order and, for some reason, cancelled it too. Interesting to learn that yours was cancelled 2 weeks after being placed without explanation. The guy who handled my deal was the Asst Mgr and, if they're all like him, I strongly advise you to followup on your order because I would say that the only thing your salesperson is watching for is that he does not get any splash back on his trousers whilst in the men's room. Go in there very laid back and ask..." Yo Dooode....T'sup with my order?' See what he remembers...how many questions you have to answer before he brings it up on the system, if it's still in there. Keep me posted.
Doc

I bought two accoustics from GC off the wall. I tried a number of locations before I found the sound I wanted and it happened to be on their wall. For the Tele I never really thought of using GC as I didn't want one that 140 people had been banging around on. Don't think the accoustics get hit as hard as the electrics out on the main floor. I didn't know about the order potentially being cancelled every couple of months. Glad I didn't get into that one. I really would have been ticked off. I'll probably stick with my local store for the next one.

I've only purchased four guitars off the wall, three electrics.a '97 Americanm Standard, new, from a Showcase Dealer, .the Tele and the Clapton....used....and an inexpensive acoustic..new......only because they were priced right and in very good condition....from my local GC. Other than that I consider guitars on the wall as demos and used even though they've not been sold and are considered, by that fact, to be new. Car dealers sell vehicles as new demos at reduced price...why shouldnt' gear vendors.
