Don,

I'm not entirely sure. I guess I was lied to by someone at some point. Fender left the whole deal up in the air saying, "We have shipped a very large amount of guitars to Guitar Center (very strongly implying mine was with it via various emails) and to basically stop bothering them." My sales rep. at Guitar Center supposedly confirmed that date with Fender's rep. but I still have no guitar and was recently told December. I really don't think GC is to blame here as they seem about as clueless as I am due to Fender's top secret ways of doing business. You would think they're dealing crack cocaine, not musical equipment. It's a shame they're doing me this way because I won't ever forget it and will probably take my business elsewhere in the future. I understand they are in a little over their heads but if that's the case they need to make up for their inefficiencies by taking care of the customers (the ones who really put money in their pockets).

Following you guys in this forum is discouraging. I ordered my Tele Deluxe in early August being told a month wait time. Then it went to 90 days wait time. I've done some checking with the store I bought it from and it is still supposed to be here about Nov. 7th. I have no faith in that date now. I feel your pain if you ordered in May, June, July and are still waiting. My next one I want to buy would be a Strat but I may go to a G&L on that one. They told me up to 3 months if I ordered from them. I have no proof that the date would be accurate from them but they were up front. If mine does show up by Nov. 15th or so I won't be so put out with them.

I have a G&L Legacy special (strat) and its a fantastic guitar. If you are looking for a non-fender strat you can't really go wrong with that one. For strats and teles in general G&L is a great choice.

Still waiting on a Fender Jazzmaster ordered in April....

Well. like I said, if someone could/would have said we have production troubles it might take 5-6 months I would have had the opportunity to wait for it or chose to buy the other choice I had in mind. My intention at the time was get a Fender either way. When it finally does come I'm sure I'll forget my displeasure about the unannounced wait time but when I go for the Strat I'll do a little more checking and maybe opt for a G & L or a used model. When I get my dream Tele I will have the top line guitar I always wanted so the next one only need be a good player and a good sounding one.

Yea Guys,

It has been a very bumpy ride for many. There are some (few) customers who are getting them relatively quickly. But the majority, like DerGeist, myself and surely many others, not so much. What I have learned through the forum and other sites is a lot of people have different experiences. What variables dictate when a customer gets their Deluxe series guitar, I don't know and I often get the feeling most of Fender's authorized dealers don't know either. Guitar Center, although often referred to as the "Wall Mart" of musical supplies stores, has done a tremendous job compensating in terms of price for Fender's half-way decent communication skills. Otherwise, I would have probably walked away a couple months ago. I think the main issue with people not getting reliable dates from their vendor is coming from the fact that Fender won't take on the task of tracking single orders, just bulk shipments out of their plant. That's an experience I have dealt with first hand. My advice is if you aren't a patient person, I would wait a while until Fender digs themselves out of the hole. Some sites claim they have some in stock so that is a much safer route too. Unfortunately, the one I want (finish and fretboard wise) wasn't in stock when I ordered it in May. So if you are willing to flex there, I would. Otherwise, put your seat belt on.

Hey Guys,

I know it's been a while but are most of you still waiting on your guitars?

I saw on some other sites that some of the big houses are saying they are expecting delivery of some Amer Deluxes on 12/3 and another one said 12/17 and another says later in the month. The one like what I ordered was 12/3. But, it wasn't where I ordered mine. My store said the guitars would be shipped from the factory in the order in which the factory recieved the original order. Do the big houses get preferential treatment over local independent stores on delivery of their orders? The factory rep said "No". But whose to say? What's the common wisdom on that?

Lelms,

I know that I ordered through Guitar Center in MAY (and I'm still waiting on mine) of this year so I personally don't think popularity of the store has any weight in Fender's decisions. I think over the past 8 months of waiting, Guitar Center has received two different shipments containing the Cherry Burst and the Olympic Pearl finishes both times. If Fender really is shipping orders according to when they were received, I would hate to be someone who just ordered one because I'm at 8 months on my wait time.

If the factory is catching up on back orders then the guy who orders more recently might not have as long a wait as those of us that ordered 4-6 months ago. A friend of mine asked if my Tele had shown up lately and I had to say no, I don't know when it will be here. So, being the friend that he is , has offered to let me use his 70's era Strat or his 90's era Tele Deluxe until mine arrives. He doesn't play himself but his late father owned them and he says they should be played. So, I'm a little hesitant to take his offer and risk something bad happening his keepsakes. I'll have to think about it for a few days first. Anyway, ours must be getting closer to arriving than they were 5 months ago. What ever that time is.

Hey Gents,

I've had my American Nashville B-Bender on order for 6 months. It was shipped to me Thu (and I have a tracking #). Should be here Monday. Maybe y'all are getting close.

No word however on my AVRI '52 Tele - the wait continues...

That's kind of what I was hoping. I'm into my 5th month and according to what my store said about Dec 17th would be my last 90 day projection. But, I was looking at several of the big houses I checked last week and it seems like their story has changed a bit, Now I saw January and into February for availability of the 3 tone sunburst w/rosewood neck like I ordered. So I"m still left with mostly open ended attitude about when I will get it. Doesn't make me feel any better to not have faith in anything I'm told. But, it's not the end of the world. At least I was able to make the purchase. Some can't right now the way things are. Got to keep it in perspective.

This discussion has its equal on the other Forums as well. I, and several others are waiting on the '57VHR Stratocaster. My order was placed with Guitar Center in April and suffered two cancellations because their computer system has a 60 day cutoff on backorders. They screwed up bigtime twice on reinstituting the order so I pulled it and gave it to the Music Zoo in Little Neck, NY. At least I know its on hold, and the sales person is aware. The person who handled my GC order was the Asst Mgr and he had absolutely no idea what had happened. Once it leaves the store and goes into the pipeline you're just another pretty face. These guys don't keep track of their customers. That's a really piss poor way to handle sales and, from now on, if it isn't on wall or in the store it doesn't get purchased from them and definitely not if it's a high end model. Showcase Dealers only from now on. They have to answer to a higher authority. 8)

Awesome luck. The person who matched those body pieces must have been in love. I had a used natural finish '93 TelePlus with a maple neck which I took off the wall in a GC Brooklyn store about 15 years ago. I paid $300 for it. It was mint except for a small cigarette burn on the back Had a wood grain just like yours. I swapped it out for a "97 Artist Series Clapton in equally fine finish because I'd always been on the lookout for one. GC gave me $350 for the Tele and the day after it was hanging on the wall @ $650. I was not as astute as I am now having been on the Forum for 3.5 years. Based upon what I've learned about that guitar hanging out around here, had I known then what I know now I'd never have let it go. Someone's got themselves one helluva guitar and I wonder these days where it's traveled to.

Enjoy!

My store is not a big chain. An independent store. I don't think they will kill my order in 60 days. I really can't hold them responsible unless I hear something indicating otherwise. I'll just have to trust Fender to keep working on them and get them out soon. I want it to be perfect when I get it. No rush job. I don't know, maybe when you buy something stores don't generally keep on the wall it takes this kind of time to get them from the factory. I assume they have a scheduled run date for each model.
