Got my first Tele this weekend. It was used, but a 2009 MIM Delux model. The middle and neck pickups sound rich and full, but the bridge pickup has considerably lower volume and sounds very thin. I expect the bridge pickup to have some 'twang', but the noticably lower volume leads me to believe there may be a problem with the pickup or an adjustment needed.
Anyone have any experience or can offer any advise? Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

Look at the selector switch terminal where the lead from the bridge pickup goes to. Ensure that there are no broken wires, errant strands of wire, etc. If OK, check that the bridge pickup is in fact, grounded. If OK, wiggle both the negative and positive lead wires (one at a time) coming from the bridge pickup to ensure that there are no internal breaks in either one. If OK, ensure that the bridge pickup's terminal on the bottom of the selector switch, isn't bottoming out in the control cavity causing it to short out as it makes contact with the shielding paint. If OK, make sure that the sliding contacts of the switch are mating firmly where they aren't bent away from each other or there is some kind of crud getting in the way as you slide the switch to the bridge position. If OK, check that the lead wires coming from the pickup's coil to their respective eyelets (where they mate with their negative and positive counterpart wires) aren't broken. If OK, then you have an internal break in the pickup's coil and the pickup (because it has been potted) most likely will have to be replaced.

Hi jeffcoop9,

Have you tried adjusting the pickup closer to the strings? Raising the pickup will increase the output level. Just turn each of the screws clockwise to raise the pickup. For more bass, raise the low E side of the pickup to be higher than the high E side, or vice-versa for more treble. If you raise it too much, you will loose sustain, so find a happy medium. :!:

Sorry for the delayed feedback... I adjusted the pickup height and got the sound volume pretty consistent. Note I also spoke to someone offline and they suggested I may have to lower other pickups as well - the middle pickup was closest to the strings, so I adjusted them all.
Thanks for the advice.
