i knocked over a glass of water and about 300mm of water went straight down the f-hole of my 69' thinline tele..holy smokes...i got nearly all of the water out within 1 minute, then used a hair dryer to dry out the water, but will it affect the tone in a bad way? anyone know?
does anyone have any similar experience? i'm so annoyed that i let it happen...

It shouldn't affect the tone but I wouldn't have gone the hairdryer route as the sudden temp change could've caused warping especially where the guitar was wet and the insides are bare wood.I would have put it in a case with a couple of packets of dissicant for a few days.Lucky for you the guitar should be fine now. That's why I always use bottled water when I'm at the guitar.

thanks....the tele looks & sounds okay now. i'm not so upset abt it anymore. somehow it sounds more trebly after the water incident. the ice pick tendency has increased on bridge p.u, and the neck p.u doesn't sound so jazzy anymore...i would've prefered if it went the other way actually, but what can u do man?...i'm also wondering if i should slightly wet the inside of lower bout as well (where the pots are) just to balance the whole thing out..in fact according to some websites, the inside needs to be regularly humidified anyway..so this hassle comes as an added bonus...somethimes not knowing is so much better...

I hope that you were just being facetious when talking about wetting down the control cavity.Electricity and water don't go together well in any circumstances and humidity even slight can greatly impede a pots performance.Just the other day I had to remove the workings of my Marshall JCM 800s and spray them with contact cleaner as they had become very noisey and scratchy due to the humidity in my music room-time for a dehumidifier.

..or just left in a sunny, indoor place where it would dry naturally.

yeah, i meant wetting the wood only, not the electrics..(for obvious reasons). according to my research, the inside has got to be maintained not too wet, but not too dry either..i'm still not sure how it works exactly but i'm quite happy to leave it as is for now. i'm thankful that it was't coca-cola or beer that i spilt, but only water.. 8)
i used the dryer on a low heating level, and touched the lacquer frequently to check the heat level, so hopefully it should be okay...
