I ordered a new 2010 Amer Deluxe Tele and the dealer told me a month or so to get it. He called me back and said 3-4 months. Does anybody know why the extended time to get one? I would have cancelled my order but couldn't find one in a couple of hundred miles from where I live.

Hey lelms!

Welcome to the forum! There are lot of people her with a lot of knowledge about Tele's (not me!), that can answer just about any question you have.

One thing I can tell you is that Fender has been back ordered for the past several (or more) months on most of their guitars. Various rumors why, but it looks like it will still be another 1 -3 months according to the bigger online retailers (Sweetwater, American Musical, etc)

I've had an American Vintage '52 Tele on order for almost 6 months now, and it had gone from "it will be here in June, to July, and now to October...".

I've got an Oct date on a different Tele I have reserved, so all I can do is wait.

There is a thread about Strats being back ordered on the Strat board, so it's not just a Tele thing. I promise you though, once you get it, it will be well worth the wait. You will prolly have a hard time finding another one close by or even from the on-line retailers for the same reasons.

Hang tight - it will be worth it! And again, welcome to the Tele forum!

RickyD

Yeh, I'm a new kid on the block. Thanks for jumping on my post so quickly. I was leaning to a G&L as I liked the ASAT pretty well. But I went back to the Fender. Now that I've ordered it I'm getting a little anxious to get it and get going. I'm an amateur and play an accoustic for my own pleasure so I wanted one really nice electric guitar to pay myself back for the past 40 years that I've been a working man. Yeah, I'm a little gray on top but haven't lost the desire to bend the strings. A man should have at least one great instrument in his life time. This tele will be my reward.

lelms -

I understand the gray. I'm 52 - retired from the USAF about 18 months now. Time to play...

The G&L is a great guitar, but I really think you'll appreciate the American Deluxe more. It'll be worth the wait!

I'll put in a picture when I get it. I had to go with the three tone sunburst. Liked it all my life. I like several other colors and if I had more money to spend I'd probably buy another one. Not another deluxe but an American Standard or a Strat. Heck, I might do it for my 60th b'day anyway.

I guess semi-related to the topic -- G&Ls are really wonderful guitars. I have a legacy and an ASAT and both of top notch. Everyine deserves "several" good guitars. G&L would make a great second once your tele arrives :)

That said, I'm still waiting on a Jazzmaster ordered in april. I'm told January now.

Well, I see by the posts that some Deluxe teles are starting to arrive. I'm still waiting for mine. I was told maybe around the first of November. Still a big disappointment. One thing for sure. I will never order and pay for another guitar in full until I recieve the guitar. I might put a minimum down on it with an agreement to pay the balance on arrival. The next guitar I buy would probably be an American Standard. Easier to find and buy first hand. Or, I might look for an used ASAT. I know it's hard to beat the Fender but they have done their selves a disservice by allowing the situation to get so far out of hand. May not be totallly their fault, as it is a screwy time to be in business. So when, (if), I get mine I'll probably get over it.

lelms,

You can read a thread that I posted on down below about excessive wait times for the American Deluxe. I reviewed my wait and the actual guitar when I came in.

It is worth the wait. I have one American Standard, and now another on order, while they are great guitars, the Deluxe is an awesome instrument. Every little bit about is just amazing, but my favorite feature has to be the compound radius neck.

Don't forget to post pics when yours comes in.

Hey lelms,

I'm still waiting for my two. My AVRI '52 isn't on the horizon yet. My B-Bender will supposedly be here in another week or so. We'll see...

Have faith,

RickyD

This my first electric. I thought it over for a year or two as to whether I really wanted one. Once I made up my mind to get one I spent several months trying to figure out what would be the best guitar for me. I was looking at the ASAT and then I went to the '62 Vintage re-issue. I actually went to the store to order the '62 but while we were pricing it out we scanned the Amer Deluxe. For some reason it struck me. So here we are! The '62 still catches my eyes so who knows what will happen on that one. I guess I've got the GAS like a lot of others. Well anyway, after I get it, it will be practice, practice, practice, play, play, play. If I get playing well enough I'll be able to justify getting one of the others. Maybe that is why I'm so uneasy. It hasn't been only 3 months, for me its been a couple of years journey.

Remember that you will get a lifetime of enjoyment out of a quality instrument so the wait will be soon forgotten when you finally get your deluxe in your hands.

The Re-issues and the Deluxe are two completely different guitars. I think of them like classic Chevy Cars. The re-issues are like Chevy rolling off a 1957 Chevy now, using exactly the same specs. The Deluxe is like a modern version of the classic car, with upgraded engine, suspension, interior, but using the same body. Basically a modern car that resembles the original.

I see on the other thread that a guy got his 2010 Amer Deluxe last week. Took 8 months. I hope they are doing the deluxe orders together. Last factory contact said late December for my order. That would be 5 months wait. I and a few others might be lucky!

Lelms,

Still waiting on mine. Going on 8 months now. I'm expecting perfection at this point! I was told mid Jan. and will undoubtedly post some pictures if and when it comes. Hang in there!
