I have a 72RI Thinline Deluxe which I absolutely love, but would like to put locking tuners on it. I can't find them anywhere. The RI is difficult to find parts for since, well, I can't find anything for it (pearloid pickguard is nowhere to be found). Any advice would be great.

Any authorised Fender dealer should be able to order them in for you.

Ask for "Fender-Schaller Locking Tuners."

Or if you don't mind drilling some small screw holes in the back or your headstock you could ask for "Schaller Six On One Side Locking Tuners."

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Unfortunately the '72 RIs have the Fender "F" tuners on them not the Fender sealed tuners (which the Fender-Schaller Locking Tuners directly replace).

The Fender "F" tuners have a unique screw pattern - they are slightly different from the vintage-style screw pattern - so nothing will directly fit without drilling new holes. I'm not sure, but the Gotoh Kluson-style locking tuners might cover the "F" tuner holes but you will still have to drill new holes for them.

Guitar Parts Resource is good place to find Fender parts.
Fender locking tuners in polished or brushed chrome: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/tune ... fender.htm

Here's a pearloid pickguard: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/pick ... tele72.htm

If you are looking to get locking tuners to solve a problem keeping your strings in tune, have you tried making sure the nut slots are properly cut and don't bind the strings? Proper number of string wraps around the tuner posts? Just a couple suggestion, disregard if you already checked these things.

Nice tuners, but they are 3 on a side. Three of the tuners won't be compatible with a Tele or any other 6 on a side headstock.

It also looks like they only have the black and white for the Deluxe 72. They have the pearloid for the regular. These are hard to find parts for.

Sorry. I get those mixed up. Maybe try a custom pickguard place like: http://www.pickguardian.com/pickguardian/ or http://www.pickguards.com/
