Hi Kong,

Sorry about the wait....

I've got a few PC probs at the mo and am using my Mac instead. Trouble is all my wiring diagram templates are on the other PC :(

Should have a shinny new diagram for you over the weekend.

Andy

No rush brother, I won't have the new pots until Monday or Tuesday. I knew you wouldn't forget me!

Hi Kong,

Really sorry mate, this is not my usual standard. I had to use Apple Paintbrush as my PC is still not operational. Its not as good as MS Paint IMO.

As soon as my PC is back up and running I'll redo this for you. For now I hope this is good enough for you to follow. Any probs, give me a shout!

:D

That is perfect, my friend. Thanks again. I'm just waiting for one more pot. I ordered a Dimarzio 250K pot, but the shaft was too big for my control plate and I don't feel like drilling it. I'll have all the parts to begin wiring on Monday. I'm going to wire up everything except the jack, and pickups when I get the pot.

Nope it just won't do. Next week you'll get a better one.

Andy,

Thanks to your awesome diagram, I was able to wire up the control plate, which I hope will save a little time when I wire up the whole thing. I have yet to upload pics of the body with some of the clear coats on, but here is the control plate. Bought some new tips for my soldering gun today, what a difference that makes, well worth the $1 !!

I got about 5 coats of clear on the body. I'll need at least another 4-6 coats to bury all of the metallic particles. It has gotten pretty cold here and I do all of my spraying outside, so it may be a while before conditions are favorable to get the rest of the clear on.

I decided to mock up the body with the neck and parts to see what she'll look like. I think it may be drool-worthy when it is done. I also wanted try my new camera, a tiny Sony cybershot 14.1 megapixel.

I can only imaging how nice it will look when all the clear coats are on and it is properly sanded and polished. I think it may put my sherwood green strat to shame. On to the pics! :)

Well Mr Kong, That looks like some pretty tidy wiring right there! 50 points to you mate! 8)

Couldn't help but notice your Line 6 manual in the above pic. Have you got one of these...

If so, what do you think?

I have the POD X3 and love it! I recently picked up a Variax 500 with plans to strip out the good stuff and make a hybrid Strat. Big fan of Line 6. Good stuff! :D

Thanks guys, and thanks for the 50 points, Andy. It will be hard to decide just how to redeem my points! I was pretty happy with the soldering, a new tip really did make all the difference and earlier struggles seem to be related to the fact that my old soldering tip was really spent. I have a Weller 8200 which I think is a very good soldering gun, it was a gift from a friend.

As far as the POD, I have the XT regular version, not the rack-mount. It is a pretty cool item, but I have not gotten around to seeing everything it can do. I have a annoying amound of latency when I try to use the USB cable and listen through my computer speakers, works great with headphones though.

I ordered an inexpensive mixer, which I may connect to the POD and then run the line right into my sound card. This same connection seems to work very well with my Spiderjam amp. I do think the Line6 stuff is brilliant. The Spiderjam really jumpstarted my playing ability with the built in backing tracks, and ability to record right on the amp.

I saw that you had picked up the variax and am looking forward to see how that electronics bundle will work in a quality axe. A very cool project to say the least! May it be big and hairy!!

Thats exactly what i do with my POD X3. Works a treat! :D

I forgot to mention, Your Tele looks just as tasty as your Strat mate! Lov'in the pearl cap knobs. Very cool! 8)

Rock on!

I will definitely put up sound clips or video when this one is done, I promise! I know I have not yet done it on my other projects, but for this one I will. I may even go back and put up clips of my Floodcaster and Sherwood Green Strat.

I only got 2 cans of clear sprayed on the body before it got very cold and windy around here. I want to spray 2 more cans on and the waiting is driving me a bit crazy. Then I'll still have to wait 4-6 weeks for the lacquer to cure. I'm hoping that since the 1st 2 cans have had a few weeks to cure already, that it will not be too long when I spray the rest of the clear.

It is tough having all the parts for this build, down to the strap I want to use and not being able to finish. I wish I could spray indoors. I considered using my garage, but since I live in a Condo, my garage is attached to a neighbor's garage and their furnace is also in there. The fumes would be sucked into their furnace and stink up their condo :( . I've even thought about making a greenhouse type structure out of clear plastic and PVC to finish the job. I should call my friend who owns a body shop to see if I could use his spray booth. Sorry I don't have any actual build progress to update.

Hope everyone has a great and safe New Year!
