Are the pickups are Fender Vintage Noiseless or Lace Sensors?

I'm assuming from your post these are the Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups. If so, then the guitar is an American Deluxe Telecaster. Fender used this "Nashville" configuration (Tele neck and bridge pickups with a Strat pickup in the middle) for the first year or so of the Am Dlx Tele. If I'm remembering correctly the American Deluxes came out in March 1998; by July of 1999 Fender reverted the guitar back to a standard Tele 2-pickup/3-way switch configuration.

Now if your guitar has Lace Sensor pickups (the neck and the middle would have chrome covers) then the guitar is a Tele Plus. This version of the Tele plus was made from circa late 1995/early 1996 until the American Deluxes came out in 1998.

Hope that helps.

On a guess, I'd say to give you the option of activating the neck pickup 'manually' so to speak in order to have it on with the bridge pickup or all three pickups together if you so desire.

Martian is correct - the mini-toggle adde the neck pickup to the bridge pickup so you them both on in positions 1 & 5 and all 3 pickups on in positions 2 &4.

Those 1996-97 Tele Plus models with the 3 Lace sensors in the "Nashville" configuration also had the same switch.

You need to sign up for a free account at a photo hosting site like Photobucket. Then you can upload a photo.

If the guitar has pickups like the one JasonSD posted then it is a Tele Plus. If it has middle and bridge pickups with polepieces and the middle Strat pickup has an aged white cover (the neck should have a chrome cover regardless) then it is an American Deluxe Tele. As I mentioned the first 12-18 months of the Am Dlx Tele had the middle pickup.

JasonSD - nice Tele Plus; that's the first one I've seen in that blueburst finish.
