I have an old Telecaster, (serial number 521605). The tuning key is broken, the key slips when I turn it. Should I buy a new tuning key, or can I just glue it, so that it doesn't slip anymore? I doubt that will work, so I'm asking what I should do.

I would advise strongly against using glue.

My first instinct would be to tell you to replace the tuner. BUT according to http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php your serial number of 521605 says that your Tele is from 1976. And as you may or may not know, vintage Fenders are priced insanely high, even 70's ones are creeping up in price.

With that being said, modifications and replacement parts always affect the value of a vintage guitar. But you can't play it with a broken tuner. I'd say short of spending a fortune on a real 70's tuner (many people on ebay part out old guitars, some parts are faked though), find a replacement that looks like the original and keep the broken one in the case or somehwere safe in the chance that you do decide to sell it or have it appraised then you have ALL the original parts.

You might have to buy a whole set of 6 tuners. I don't know who sells individual tuners. Your tuners have an "F" on the back, right? I've had good luck with places like Guitar Parts resource http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/tune ... fender.htm

You could check with your local luthiers/techs/music shops for a single tuner but I've also used Guitar Parts Resource and as mentioned, you may need to buy the set.
