Hi everyone,
I`ve got a small question!
Is it possible to change the Wide Range pickup of a `72 Tele Deluxe (Reissue) against a Fender Enforcer? I ask cos the pickup covers seem bigger than usual. Any info on this is appreciated!
Greets,
A.

it's possible, but you'll have big gaping holes in the pickguard.
most people find themselves unhappy with the reissue tele deluxe pickups, but the problem isn't the pickup, rather it is the pots. it is standard to put 500k ohm pots with humbuckers and the vintage tele deluxe had 1meg ohm pots. but the reissues have 250k pots, which make the guitar sound muddy.
my advice to you is to replace the pots with 1meg ohm pots first, before you change the pickups. it'll be cheaper and won't look as ugly.

Thanx for the answer!
So it`s not possible to use the Wide Range pickup covers with other pickups? I actually wanted to use an Enforcer pickup with the Wide Range cover...
And thanx for the advice with the pots!

A.

you probably could, but it wouldn't be easy.

Hey bubbles.

This is intriguing to hear just changing the pots can add some clarity. I've been annoyed at the muddiness of this guitar. for quite some time now

I'm curious, would all 4 pots need upgrading or would just the two volume pots or just the two tone pots do the trick? Thanks

So you went to 1M ohm pots? All four pots?

"Hum Volume" - do you mean both volume pots?

1 Meg on the Humbucker Volume, 500k on the Humbucker Tone

500k on the single coil volume and 500k for the single coil tone pot.

Sorry for the confusion. I have a 72 Deluxe with two humbuckers.

Believe it or not, sounds great on a clean pre that I developed on a Fender Cyber Deluxe... The bass is insane and there is a ton of character and snap on up. Kinda a nasty, moaning, whistling feel... I know, that sounds nuts.

Bottom line, I just would not never, no way, feel the need to tweak the tone on this baby. 5643 yea right

Glad you like it dude. It was just so muddy through my DeVille 410 that I had to clear it up.
I was never using it on its own, only blended with the single coil just to clear it.

CC - Found a hot deal on a 72 custom but I'm balking b/c I don't own anything with a 7.25" radius and I'm a bending fool! Can you bend ok on yours?
