I know this is the Tele forum, and I do own a tele to let you know. But I was looking at new amps, as I am in the hunt for one. I went to my local music store and the owner hooked me up on an american tele through a Fender Blues Deville 410. It sounded amazing, I loved the amp. I am saving up for it. Any input from anyone on this up coming purchase.

Many of us are not fans of the Hotrod (which includes Blues) series of amps including myself but the Devilles are the best of that series in my opinion. You will find that a lot more people ARE fans of those amps, mostly the smaller ones like the Deluxe and the Blues Junior and that is mostly due to the fact they are relatively inexpensive compared to the better amps Fender makes. I would also encourage you to consider a Blues Devile in a 212 configuration. A little beefier sounding than the 410.

Recent posts on this forum have revealed some of the HotRod/Blues amps may possibly be prone to difficulties related to overheating. Look for a thread about amp longevity in the "Amps 1985 & Newer" forum.

It has been fairly well documented on this forum that the older HotRods and Blues amps prior to the mid 90's seem to be built a little better. This is very likely due to being made in USA. Perhaps someone else can give you a better idea of the dates involved. These older amps occaisionally come up for sale and are worth looking into.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I used to own a Deville 212, sold it to help buy a 1968 Ampeg B12XT. The Deville was a good amp, but for me it was too loud, also quite heavy at around 60 lbs. You can find one of these used for around $500 or less if the opportunity presents itself, much better than dropping $900. They are nice amps, but they haven't had as solid a reputation as some of Fender's more established models (Deluxe and Twin reverbs, 59 bassman, etc...). I never had a problem with mine, but I know others have. Personally my favorite amp to play my tele through is my old 76 Champ. IMHO it sounds better than my old Deville ever did, and doing it without waking the neighbors ^^

It all depends on what your needs are. Do you need a 20,40,60 or 80 watt amp. The more watts the heavier the Fender amp is going to be. I like all the Fender tube amps. If you need a lot of power look at the the Twin Reverb. A step down would be the Deluxe Reverb Reissue and then the Princeton. They are all great amps that are all tube driven and sound fantastic. I own a DRRI and I think it is the best amp I now own or have ever owned. It fits my needs. If you want more opinions, you may want to post this on the Modern Amp section of the forum.

I know I'm in the minority on these forums, but I LOVE the hot rod series. I own a Blues Jnr, and the HRD VM. I love both amps, anyone who comes and jams out here, love them too. I don't gig, they're purely for my own pleasure at home. Well worth a demo imho, good luck with your choice 8)

I'm not familiar with the Blues DeVille but I know that my Tele absolutely sings through my little Blues Jr. -certainly worth a looksee too.
