Hi,

I'm looking at buying a new tele body and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of good companies/sites to go for. Just so you know, the neck i will be using is a 2009 MIM neck.

so far the best iv found is

http://relicguitarstudio.com/bodies/telecaster.html

I do quite like sonic blue with the relic look, but im willing to try out other colours.

Also, i see bodies going for a wide range of prices, whats the difference? obviously some are more expensive because they use more expensive woods, but i'm only looking at alder. Can you get different quality woods and does it make much difference? (That feels a stupid question)

Lastly, im located in the UK, so posting from america might work out expensive.

thanks in advance for your help

Warmoth lets you choose pretty much anything you can dream up plus they have a couple of slick options for improved playability.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Musikraft has very good Tele replacement bodies. They have premade, custom order and also "Blackguard" Tele bodies which are replicas of the specs from the earliest Telecasters. The body I ordered is a 1952 serial 1531 style Telecaster body. They have put a lot of research into tele bodies for sure based on the feedback I have gotten from others who have used their parts to build Tele's including several luthiers, their quality is among the best.

I agree Warmouth is a good way to go. Also own a '62 Tele Custom Body in 3-color-sunbusrt and white binding. I'm hard pressed to find any differences between that and an actual Fender body of the same type.

Iv heard warmoth are meant to be good bodies. Only prob is, i live in the UK, so postage would work out VERY expensive :-\

also can someone explain to me how the quality actually varies? Does it make that much difference?

mmrats,

The only real difference I have found in aftermarket bodies are that sometimes they will change something with the shape or put the control cavities in different locations.

My Warmoth Strat body is accurate up until top curve of the body (Where your arm pit would go). It more tapered and rounded off.

The control cavity on Thinline Tele body was placed like a standard Tele's and not like a Thinline.

I hope this helps.

Here are some pics of my replacement body I got in the mail from Musikraft yesterday. It is a custom Blackguard cut based on a 1952 Telecaster with serial number 1531-1843. It's 2 piece clear Ash. I feel good recommending them after seeing how nice this body is and having had them recommended to me by several luthiers and Fender dealers. Waiting on the neck to come and I will post pics of it when it does. Their bodies start at $175 for 50's and Modern 60's style. The Blackguard spec bodies start at $195.
