The Affinity Teles. Good tone, plays great with proper setup. Unbelievable guitars for the price.

Classic 50's and 60's Teles. Very hard to find them in stores, so hardly anyone gets a taste of how good these are.

Agree with this. The Deluxe Blackout was the first electric guitar I ever owned and I trade it in on a Hwy 1. I love my Hwy 1 but I think the Blackout is an amazing guitar.

So I will say the Deluxe Blackout and the Highway 1 are the most underrated/overlooked guitars. Under appreciated not by their owners, but by Fender for discontinuing the model.

I am currently in negotiations for a 50s Tele. Hopefully I'll get it, it is pretty much a buyer's market around here. I have a project in mind and a 50s would be everything I need. The only question would be do I commit the sin of refinishing a perfect body, or finish an new unfinished body and transfer the parts.

What would we have done in a world with only one telecaster?

Classic Series '50s Esquire is in my opinion the most under appreciated tele.

If having a nitro body for you is a must, I'd contact Mark Jenny in MJT Guitars and buy one of his finished bodies. They look great! He gets the right shades of blonde, and he makes them either "NOS" or relic if you want. That is, if you can't finish a body yourself. I wouldn't try the "refinishing a perfect body" option. Makes no sense having a nitro body with a poly neck, so I'd have to refinish everything after all

I would say Highway 1 Teles. I own one in Honey Blonde and absolutely love that guitar! I love the huge frets the grease bucket circuit the bridge everything about this guitar! I hate to see them not making the Honey blondes anymore...awesome color..:)

I don't hear too much about the Deluxe Nashville Teles.

Hey Tanner - I agree with you - my Classic '50s Esquire is really a smoking little guitar. It feels and plays terrific and it sounds great. It's back and forth between it, one of my Nashville's or my American Standard Tele for my #1. Usually my #1 is whatever Tele/Esquire I happen to have in my hand at the moment. I love them all!

Mike - I have 2; a Deluxe Nashville Tele and a Deluxe Nashville Power Tele. Both are very flexible, versitile guitars. The Power Tele has the added flexibility of the Fishman Power Bridge, which throws a little accoustic sound in the mix as well. Pretty neat guitars. I'm glad I have them in my cannon battery.

My Brother - you are on the money! My Honey Blonde/maple is a cutey. I'm getting her a black pickguard to dress her up a bit. Also a very nice Tele...

Spot on! My Classis '60s w/ a Bigsby is awesome. I don't play her much, because I don't often need a Bigsby, but she is the Tele I like to cheat on the others with!

I've got a Classic '50s on order. I can't wait to see what she's like. Everything I've heard is that they are awesome!

Guys - I think the most underrated Tele is the simple little MIM Standard! They are great right out of the box. They look good, quality is excellent and they sound good. They are also awesome platforms to modify if a guy wants something different. (I have 3 I've bought to mod - I'll post pics when they are done.)

It's funny though - the only Tele's I really don't bond with are the American Deluxe. They are certainly a nice guitar; I've played a few, but they just don't talk to me like the others do...

I don't think Fender makes a bad Tele. Each one I own is just right in it's own way. They are all a bit different with slightly different sound and feel, but bottom line is, they are all Tele's and feel and sound like Tele's. I prolly have a bad addiction to them  , and I certainly have my bias, but if the only guitar I could have in life was one Tele, even a stock MIM, I'd be a very happy camper.

Now - I still need my AV '52 (on order), a Baja, a '72 Thinline, a Road Worn, a B-Bender, a GE Smith...
