Hey guys I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I want to buy this guitar...
Image

It's a 2008 American Standard Telecaster. That photo is from the ad. I wanted to seek your expert advice before I make a purchase. I'm really kindof a Gibson guy so I don't know anything about Fenders (except that I like them :P). What would you say is a fair price for this guitar considering that it is in very close to mint condition and it is original? Also what are your general feelings about this model? Are there any specific things that I should know about it? What are your likes and dislikes on this model?

I realize that in the end what matters is how I feel about the guitar. I'm just trying to educate myself a little bit before I buy it. Like I said I'm new to Fenders.

By the way I'm also on the Gibson forum and my other guitar is a Gibson SG. I think a Tele would be a perfect addition to my arsenal.

Hi Dub-T and welcome to the forum. Well I'm not an expert but it looks like a Tele. There seems to be individual saddles which is a plus for me because it is easier to have a perfect intonation although less "vintage style". Can you post the serial number? It can confirm the year of make and the country of origin. I love Teles, they are great guitars, so are the SG. Good luck. :)

DO NOT POST THE SERIAL #.

Unless you want fakes showing up on eBay with your s/n.

I don't know the serial anyways. I'm pretty sure it's an '08 though.

I'm probably going to drive over to look at it and hopefully pick it up today. It's a far drive. What do you guys think about this guitar?

Depending upon condition, I've seen them going for $800 to over $1k :

I'm paying $650 and the guitar is almost mint. I'm going to check it out and probably pick it up later today. Basically if I pick it up and the neck feels good I'm buying it. If I get it I'll post some better pics. Wish me luck!

For an American Standard Tele in such good condition that's a more than fair price,he could easily ask $200 more.

[img]Thanks guys. I was happy with the guitar but your reactions ave assured me that I got a good deal.

The condition is great. Just a few little scratches on the back that are hardly noticable and that's IT. Flawless otherwise.

The tone is great clean and dirty. The burst is beautiful and the finish is great. Really nice quality. The neck is actually lightly flamed if you look at it from the right angle.

This Tele is pretty sweet. I think she's a keeper.

I'll post a couple more pics.

Tele + Vox = Ambrosia for the ears.
