I need help guys. I have a 1988 american tele. I had a professional musician look at my Tele today. He thinks the neck on my Tele is actually a strat neck that has had the head stock cut into the shape of a Tele head stock. I pulled the neck off of the body and found the following in pensil at the base of the neck: Lo 2888 Is there anyway to determine if he is right?

Not from that info. Can you post some pictures?

At the base of the neck the end is square unlike the round end on my strat. No visible gaps anywhere.

Not real good at this computor stuff. How do you post images?

Hmm - I don't see how they could "square off" the rounded neck heel of a Strat neck to make it look like a Tele neck heel. Photos will be helpful.

To post photos you will need to have some type of photo hosting service like Photobucket - the basic accounts are free. You just upload the photos to that site then you can post a link to the photo here on the forum.

I did't noticed those changes you've mentioned. The neck and headstock are 100% original. Also, the neck has the square heel joint all Teles should have. Nothing else different.

The only cosmetic change would be the cool blue shell pickguard. It looks astounding on the slick black alder body.

Thank you so much for your help!

I had the following changed out on the guitar but I also kept all the original parts:

Custom Shop Noisless Pick-ups
New Tone and Volume Pots
New Switch
New Wiring
Locking Tuners
and the new pick guard
