I picked one up a couple of days ago....black. I bought it for $170. I just couldn't resist. I had been wanting a guitar with p-90's for a while now. Although I haven't been a fan of Squier in the past, this guitar seems to be pretty nice. Once I set it up, put on new strings and a new bone nut, I found it to have pretty good tone and the Duncan designed P-90's seem to really scream. Since when did Squier start making better quality guitars? Does anyone else own one and if so, how do you like it? I had to buy it when the price is that low. Also, the sounds I'm getting from this guitar are really suprising. It's a cross between a Gibson and a Tele and I can really get a wide range from this thing (granted I have only played for few hours after I set it up).

Jack,
I got a blonde one for Christmas and love it. I wanted something a little different than my Hwy one Tele, and this surely fits the bill. Very versitle and solidly built. Sounds good clean or dirty. The only negative I have on mine is most of the pickguard screws were not installed very straight. But other than that I love mine more every time I pick it up and it plays almost as good as my Highway one. Great buy and congrats on your new axe :)

I am a huge advocate of Squier Guitars. I am not sure when things changed, but today they are making really good guitars... The latest acquisition is the Squier Tele Classic Vibe 60's model with a rosewood fingerboard. This guitar has white binding and put up next to the same guitar in an American version, they are nearly identical.

I have looked at the Squier website and I think they are making good less expensive guitars to hit the asian markets. They may not pay as much as we would to buy an American built guitar, but there are a lot more people in Asia that will spend less and want a good guitar. The quality is up.. The price is down... They sell a lot of guitars that way. I have found them to be so good after a small amount of modification, that I have started to play only Squier Tele guitars. I currently own 3 Tele's and all three are great playing and sounding guitars.

Cheers,

TJ

I have wanted one of these for a while. I too am a big fan of Squier guitars. Maybe when I have a few extra bucks I can pick one of these up.

The last Squier I got was the new release Tele Classic Vibe 60's. It is sunburst with white binding and rosewood neck. It looks like Andy Summers' guitar. It is the best guitar they have made to date. I ordered it at GC and when it arrived it was completely set up from the factory, not one adjustment needed. You can tell that someone did a pro setup at the factory. The salesman at Guitar Center pulled an American built tele of the same specs off the wall and we put them side by side and they were nearly identical. One costing $1000 and the other costing $350. Huge difference in price. For my money the Squier wins any day.

Where the Squier gets beat is putting it up against a Customer Shop Tele. Seeing that those Tele's are hand made and cost a mint, I would expect this to be the case.

What every they are doing at Squier, I hope the continue. Look at the newest releases, they are dynamite.

I got my son one of the humbucker fitted versions of these for Xmas....Great guitar though he's angling on a swap for my Parker P44 pro which is a bit more blingtastic in the boy's opinion. The Tele is a decent sounding guitar if not a little generic, like it could be any Humbucker equipt guitar.

This YouTube video has me gassing for the P90 version but in Blonde. The P90's = big time Fender mojo.

I hope the link works I have no idea how to put a YouTube clip in here ?

You don't have to spend mega bucks to get your groove on...
