Have you also tried the JR Strat?

Yeah I tried the Strat, it's absolutely brilliant, love the sound I managed to get off of it, nothing I didn't expect it to be, but like I said on my opening post, I'm looking for a bit of a change in shape because I hav so many super-strats and also a Fender Strat and I thought that the Telecaster was the way to go in this case. I'll probably get the JR Strat about a year after I buy the JR Telecaster.

The Jim Root models are pretty much Charvel spec'd guitars with the Fender name on them.

I've played the Tele and it's very cool. Wish they didn't cost so danged much though.

Compared to most of the other artist series Fenders Jim Root's Tele and Strat are quite reasonable IMHO

Billy Corgan Stratocasters had similar cosmetic features, except for the addition of DiMarzio humbucking rail pickups and the maple fretboard on both black and white models.

Billy has another Stratocaster fitted with Lace Sensor pickups: Blue (neck)/Silver (middle)/Red (bridge).

Just say NO to the EMOCASTER!

The neck profile is different from the usual Fender profile on than the Root models too. It's one of the main things that sets them apart.

I didn't even know who Billy Corgan was. I wasn't even thinking about a Strat anyway and if I was it would have been the Jim Root one anyway, but it's the Telecaster I'm after hence why I posted in the Tele forum rather than the Strat forum. lol. I am a fan of both Slipknot and Stonesour, so I wouldn't be looking for an alternative of the model. You don't need to worry about me getting the "EMOCASTER" as it's totally not my style. Lol. That was a good one though, the Emocaster, that cracked me up.

Glad you enjoyed the "emocaster" line.
if you have the money to spend the Jim Root Tele is a VERY nice guitar.

Yeah it was great. Well atm I don't have the money as Im paying up a holiday, but I'll save up and get one I've seen in some stores in the US like GC u can buy used ones for $1,055.99 which is £725 in the UK, but I can buy one brand new over here in the UK for £649, so tht's what I'll do, so I should get it roughly before Christmas, unless I qualify for Credit to pay it up, then I'll have it next week, but when I get it I'll post pictures up on this with my Modded MIM Strat. I'm not fussed on colour tbh either, but it'll most likely be the white one I get. Might get a Standard Telecaster after it, just for the sake of it.

Sounds like we both have the "Tele bug". I'm stoked about the Jim Root's I own and want more!!! Crazy but yes, why not a full rack of Jim Root Tele's with different tunings. This guitar might cause a divorce. Don't know if my wife will dig me getting a third or fourth.

Yeah my girlfriend doesn't like me buying more guitars either, this will be my first Telecaster and if they're as good as your making out, I'm seriously looking forward to getting one. I have 11 guitars, and I hav already bought 3 this year alone and its only June, but if I can afford it then why not. I'm sure if she loves you enough you'll be fine.

You're right, she loves me and I'm lucky because I have 2 acoustics, 2 Teles, 1 ESP EC-1000, a Geddy Lee Jazz bass......you get the picture. But yeah, I wouldn't steer you wrong on this Jim Root Tele. I can't put it down bro. It just begs to be played ALL the time. I'm surprised at the nice clean tones with these EMG's. If you are playing through a tube amp, you'll be pleasantly surprised too. Distortion just kicks too.

Yeah I have a Jackson DKMG, it has EMG's and the clean tones are nice through that. Well sounds like my Stratocaster and Charvel 375 DLX, they both beg to be played, my mate is borrowing my Strat so he can get used to the feel of one, but he's getting a Roadhouse and I hav an MIM Strandard, totally different animals but oh well.

I hope to get the guitar soon, if I qualify for credit, it will be next Friday :D

I love JR Tele. I've got the Maple neck/Black model. It's just incredible and it's simple lay out/specs has spurred on a lot of creativity in me since I got it.

I did change the nut to an LSR Roller nut, just so I can use a range of different gauge strings without needing the file nut slots.

I did originally want the White/Ebony model but I was happy with this one.

Nice idea!

Personally I'd care very much to install the LSR or a similar nut like the Graphtech on my Squier Silver Strat. This low-friction LSR Roller reduces significantly the friction causing tuning instability.
