ok so a good friend is selling me his brand new MIM tele.
he bought the ash tele from GC. im getting it at a fantastic price.
im gonna switch out the machine heads to locking.
so after that the pick ups might get replaced.
what would you guys put in the neck for a really sweet bluesy tone?
what about the bridge? im thinking noiseless in the bridge.

Testing pickups is a dodgy business. Unless you have a tremendous ear, hearing the difference is quite a challenge, particularly among high-end pickups. It's far easier to differentiate between, say, stock MIMs and '57/'62 Custom Shops than it is to separate Lindy Fralin Blues and the same CS pickups. Once you pass a certain threshold in terms of quality, the vast majority of pickups sound good; the only tangible difference in many cases is how "hot" they are.

tele should be here this weekend.
im still out to lunch on what pups to
put in this.
anybody have a clue as to what pups come with it?
the current owner and good friend has switched the strings to 11's.
im wondering if that will make the tone more beefy?

ive heard the tele. it sounds nice honestly.
its the tele thats a GC exclusive.
i think i mentioned, im getting a pretty cool deal on it.
its being bought with mods in mind from the get go.
i want locking tuners and a wilkinson roller nut, to start.
the redish pickguard has got to go.
the tele plays really well too.
just looking for more of a "texas tone" from it.

I have never modified any of my instruments, if I did I would think to myself that I bought the wrong guitar.

I agree with the give the stock components a chance...

However, modding is okay to me. Just don't mod for the sake of modding or cause everyone is modding, mod cause you want to mod. To me not even considering modding is like someone saying they use no salt, pepper, sauces, or condiments to modify the food to their own personal liking because it would mean they bought the wrong food. Not everyones personal taste when it comes to food or guitars is exactly the same. Just like I may slightly alter, or 'mod', an assembly line mass produced food item to my own personal liking if I find it necessary; I will do the same to an assembly line mass produced guitar. I find nothing wrong in modding something if it helps you like and/or enjoy it more...
