ok...went to guitar center today to return an Epi Sheraton II (mainly been playing strats the last 4-5 years though) just bought the epi two weeks ago for 400$ played nice, but the electronics were garbage. MY highway one strat wasn't quite cutting it anymore for me either,so I sold it. Trying to find my own "voice" and promised myself I would buy gear with my ears instead of my eyes. Saw this "used" American Special tele. Picked it up..instantly knew without plugging it in it was "the one". Got 15% knocked off because of the Memorial day sale. With the returned epi,and the 15% off I paid 16$ for the "used" tele. Plugged her in at home and WOW!!! I stand corrected for always saying fenders 57/62 pups were the best. The texas specials are amazing IMHO. Sorry for rambling, just really excited. I thought the necks on these were the same as the highway ones, but this one is def. thicker and more comfortable to play. I do love the nitro finish on the hwy 1, but for the tone this thing pumps out, ill be just fine. 8)
Thanks For Reading....

Plus about a hundred.

Most people hate Teles only until they own them and spend some quality time with them. They have a persistent habit of converting guitarists one person at a time.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I agree with the statement that the Tele changes guitar players one at a time. I was a die hard Strat player, who had put together a project Tele that I started to fall in love with. It really brought out something different in my playing. Now I only play the Tele and it has become my trademark sound. I adore them.

PS. Once I put hand wound Seymour Duncan Antiquity's into my 50's Tele is when I started to blossom into a completely different player. The pup's make a huge difference.
